The leaked photos seem to corroborate an earlier leak by user NextHandheld, who hinted at a color scheme described as “below the surface.” Now, it appears that the Joy-Cons will feature colored rails. Last year’s leak suggested that the new Joy-Cons would magnetically attach, and this latest leak seems to confirm that speculation. Just as with any rumor, it’s wise to approach these supposed Switch 2 Joy-Con images with a healthy dose of skepticism. It could very well be that these designs were masterfully crafted by a gifted designer, similar instances having occurred in the past with gaming consoles. However, the level of detail and authentic trademark stamps on this controller make it seem quite plausible. If they aren’t genuine, then considerable effort has been put into creating a convincing forgery, or perhaps we are indeed looking at the new Joy-Con design.
Nintendo is expected to make an official announcement regarding their upcoming Switch successor within the coming weeks, as the new system’s release is speculated to fall within the first half of this year. Since the company’s fiscal year concludes on March 31st, it’s possible that we could see the new console unveiled around that time or shortly before. Given that the original Switch was launched in March 2017, fans are eagerly waiting to find out if there will be a similar release date for the Switch 2. However, if the system is indeed set for a March debut, it’s crucial for both fans and retailers to learn about it soon.
