Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks Reveal Return of the OLED’s Best Feature

As someone who has spent countless hours gaming on my beloved Nintendo Switch, I am beyond excited about the rumors surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2! Four years have passed since the release of the OLED model, and it seems we are finally getting an upgrade that truly addresses some of the original Switch’s shortcomings.

This month, there’s been a flood of information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s no surprise why. It appears that the device is in full swing during its production phase, with an official unveiling and release close at hand. Furthermore, not only have leaks emerged, but rumors have also surfaced, such as speculation regarding the launch lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2. If these leaks and rumors are accurate, then it seems that the Nintendo Switch 2 will revive one of the OLED’s most popular features.

The OLED version of the Nintendo Switch, launched four years after the original in 2021, boasts several enhancements. The main attraction is its OLED display, but there are additional improvements as well. One such improvement is an upgraded stand for more stable gameplay.

The standard Nintendo Switch’s built-in stand is rather weak compared to the longer, sturdier stand on the Nintendo Switch OLED. According to recent leaks and rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, its stand will likely be stronger and extend along most of the console’s length, offering better support when using it in this mode.

It’s uncertain if the Nintendo Switch 2 will include a stand at all, and if it does, it may not resemble the OLED model’s stand as much as the regular Switch. So, remember to approach this information with skepticism.

This is of course the beauty of a successor console though. Rather than creating something brand new from scratch, which Nintendo sometimes does, it can refine. Many of the shortcomings of the current Switch look poised to be remedied with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. For example, leaks have also seemingly confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t just have a USB-C port on top like the Nintendo Switch, but also on the bottom, which the current Switch doesn’t have. This addition will go a long way while using the console in handheld mode and in tabletop mode.

As a dedicated Nintendo fan, I can’t help but wonder if Nintendo might skip on providing a sturdy stand for the new console, given my preference for handheld and docked modes. After all, tabletop mode doesn’t see much action from me. However, considering the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be backward compatible with the original Switch, it’s crucial that it maintains support for tabletop mode as well.
