In just its initial four days on sale, more than 3.5 million units of the Nintendo Switch 2 have been bought worldwide, according to Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa. This impressive figure beats the record for the highest global sales of any Nintendo hardware within such a short timeframe.
Globally debuting on June 5th, the new Switch 2 boasts an upgrade of its original design, featuring several enhancements. The updated Joy-Con 2s now adhere magnetically to the console, and the screen is expanded to a size of 7.8 inches, offering VRR in Handheld mode. Additionally, its dock has been revamped with a built-in fan and support for up to 4K resolution on compatible televisions.
In the UK, it appears that the latest Nintendo console has achieved an unprecedented debut, surpassing the previous records set by the 3DS and the initial Switch model, as indicated by NielsenIQ’s reports, suggesting that sales data for regions remains largely unclear.
