Nintendo Switch 2 Will Sell 4.3 Million Units in US in 2025, Analyst Predicts

According to numerous confirmations, Nintendo is expected to reveal the next version of the Switch before April 1st, and recent reports and leaks suggest an announcement could be coming soon. With excitement building for the new console, analyst Mat Piscatella from Circana has shared some intriguing sales projections.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve recently had a chat with BlueSky where Piscatella shared some intriguing insights. According to his forecasts, the Nintendo Switch 2, supposedly its official name, is projected to sell approximately 4.3 million units in the US by the year 2025. This figure represents roughly one-third of all console hardware sales in the US for that particular year, excluding portable PC devices like the Steam Deck. Piscatella bases these projections on the console’s planned launch in the first half of the year.

Despite strong initial sales in the region, an analyst predicts that the PS5 will be the top-selling console in the US by 2025. He also foresees continued stock shortages for the Switch 2 for several months following a high initial demand spike.

The duration until Nintendo reveals the Switch 2 is what everyone is curious about at the moment, and indications suggest that we might not have to wait much longer. Keep an eye out for further developments in the upcoming days and weeks.

Given that it seems a revelation is imminent (though nothing’s certain), I predict Nintendo’s upcoming hardware to sell around 4.3 million units in the U.S. by 2025, making up about one third of all video game console hardware units sold that year, not counting PC Portables.

Anticipating that hardware limitations will persist for several months following a substantial early demand spike. However, the number of units sold is inherently tied to manufacturing capacity. Nonetheless, I remain confident that PlayStation 5 will continue to lead in total hardware sales in the U.S. this year.
