Nintendo Switch Fans Slam Nintendo Over NSFW Issue With Console

As a seasoned gamer with two children of my own and over three decades of gaming under my belt, I find myself deeply troubled by the current state of affairs regarding the Nintendo Switch. The console, once synonymous with family-friendly entertainment, has sadly transformed into a Wild West of sorts, with inappropriate content like hentai games finding their way onto the eShop and the news section.

Currently, the leading post on the Reddit platform dedicated to the Nintendo Switch showcases a group of frustrated and disillusioned Nintendo enthusiasts expressing their dissatisfaction over a recurring problem with the console, an issue that occasionally involves adult content. Traditionally, Nintendo has been known for its stringent and watchful approach towards moderation, particularly in terms of the games it permits on its systems. However, this traditional stance has been dramatically altered with the introduction of the Nintendo Switch; the platform now resembles a lawless frontier more than ever before. While there are benefits to this shift, there are also numerous drawbacks.

For your concern, it’s important to note that there are numerous adult or overtly sexual games, including hentai, available on the Nintendo Switch. This can be troubling given the high number of children who own and utilize this console. In truth, it appears a new shovelware (poorly made) hentai game is being released almost every week in the eShop.

Fortunately, parental controls help restrict some content, but they’re not foolproof. Unfortunately, these controls don’t filter the content on the Nintendo News section within the Nintendo eShop. This is concerning because the games you mentioned often appear in this section, which is essentially uncurated, meaning it isn’t monitored or checked for inappropriate content. A recent example of this issue is Hentai Girls: Collage Romance, a game that fits the description you provided, being featured on the Nintendo eShop News section.

Just as many Nintendo enthusiasts have noticed, these games occasionally show up in the newsletters that Nintendo frequently sends out to their fanbase.

A concerned fan expresses their frustration that inappropriate games can still appear on the Switch, even when it has child settings activated. They’ve had to restrict their young child from accessing the news tab due to finding unsuitable game titles before. They expected that Nintendo’s system for creating child accounts, limiting a child’s access to inappropriate content, and requiring a password for most actions would prevent such adult content from appearing on the news feed.

An additional comment notes: “Each week, there seems to be another new AI-generated adult-themed game, such as ‘hentai golf’ and ‘hentai racing,’ available on the Nintendo eShop. It ranges from ‘hentai school’ to various other titles. It appears that either Nintendo is unaware of the explicit nature of ‘hentai,’ or they are indifferent towards children encountering inappropriate, low-quality content.

At this stage of their generation, it seems unlikely that Nintendo will address this issue, though perhaps the next Nintendo Switch model might solve it. Regardless, it’s a glaring omission, and given Nintendo’s family-friendly image, it’s hard to justify such an oversight from a company like them.

Currently, Nintendo hasn’t weighed in on the matter or the controversy it’s sparked. Should that change, rest assured, we’ll promptly bring you up to speed with the latest developments.
