Nintendo Switch Leak Reveals Unexpected Return of 2008 Wii Classic

As a gamer with a decade-long gaming journey under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I hear about the potential return of MySims to the gaming scene. Back in 2008, when I was just a young lad, MySims was one of those games that managed to slip through the cracks amidst the gaming juggernauts like GTA IV and Metal Gear Solid 4. However, I remember spending countless hours on it, creating my very own Sim-world.

2008 saw an abundance of exceptional video games, with titles like Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl gracing our screens. However, due to the sheer number of releases that year, some gems were unfortunately missed by many gamers. It’s now been confirmed that one such overlooked classic from 2008 – a Wii and DS game – will be making its comeback this year on the Nintendo Switch.

Back in 2008, if you were a gaming enthusiast like myself on the Nintendo DS or Wii, there’s a good chance you also dabbled with the charming simulator game MySims. And if you did and found it delightful, as I did from EA Redwood Shores, here’s some exciting news for us nostalgic gamers – it seems to be making a comeback!

Despite neither EA nor Nintendo announcing anything, several European retailers have listed the game for a release on Nintendo Switch on November 19th. The consistency among multiple retailers listing this game for the Switch, along with it being an unexpected title for the platform initially, suggests there might be some truth to these listings.

If you’re not familiar, the game was initially launched in September 2008 for both Nintendo DS and Wii systems. Later on, it was also made available for personal computers, mobile phones, and Blackberry devices. Notably, this spin-off of “The Sims” received Metacritic scores between 67 and 70 upon release, suggesting mixed critical reception. However, despite this, the game managed to sell over a million copies. Given the current popularity of life simulators, it wouldn’t be surprising if there was renewed interest in this title as a late-generation Nintendo Switch release, although a significant update would likely be required if that were to happen.

All of that said, for now, take everything here with a grain of salt. We have multiple leaks at this point, but no official information or confirmation. If the leaks are true, and there’s no reason to doubt that they are, then this should change in the coming weeks. In fact, this leak may even speed up this announcement.

H/T, Reset Era.
