Nintendo Wii Fans Surprised With New Support for the Console in 2025

Surprisingly, it’s been confirmed that in 2025, a well-liked game series will receive further support for the Nintendo Wii, which was previously discontinued over a decade ago and has seen little to no new game releases since then. However, due to its impressive global sales during its active period, the Wii has remained a favorite among gamers. Now, one external developer is aiming to extend the Wii’s lifespan even further by releasing a new accessory that could make it more current and relevant once again.

Via Hyperkin, the gaming accessory maker, has revealed their latest product – the Hyper Strummer guitar controller compatible with Nintendo Wii. Primarily designed to function with games from the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises, the Hyper Strummer is a wireless guitar controller that improves upon its predecessor, a model previously sold by Hyperkin. This new edition of the controller will be available for purchase at $76.99 starting January 8th this week.

In case you didn’t know, the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games on Nintendo Wii remain quite popular even in 2025. Although both series have been mostly inactive for a while, owners of Wii consoles have managed to keep them alive. Games such as Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and Guitar Hero 5 are still being resold for prices ranging from $20 to $40. The cost of original guitar and drumming controllers on the secondary market can often exceed $100, which is why companies like Hyperkin continue to produce new controllers like the Hyper Strummer.

Although Rock Band and Guitar Hero remain popular today, it appears neither series is likely to see a new release soon. Regardless of any potential changes in the future, it’s clear that there won’t be a new game on the Nintendo Wii. For those who want to keep playing on their Wii for longer, the Hyper Strummer might be an excellent choice.
