In a recent announcement, the creators of Shovel Knight Dig, known as Nitrome, unveiled Mouse Work, an upcoming multiplayer party game for Nintendo Switch 2. This game takes advantage of the system’s unique mouse controls and can be played by up to four players simultaneously. As of now, a specific release date has yet to be disclosed.
Here is an overview of the game, via Nitrome:
Mouse Work is an upcoming party game for one-to-four players using Switch 2 mouse controls!
Instead of dallying and idling about, head on over to the employment center! You can choose to collaborate with friends or go solo, taking up various mini game challenges using the innovative mouse controls on the Switch 2. Each job offers a fresh and creative experience that showcases the latest cursor capabilities of the Joy-Con 2.
In “Mouse Work,” players assume the cute roles of mice striving to gather some Cheese. Luckily, the nearby employment agency presents numerous opportunities for these mousey workers, challenging them with fresh and creative challenges that rely on the movement of the cursor for gameplay.
In the game “Mouse Work“, you’ll find yourself assuming various roles, such as:
1. As a Climbing Instructor, you’ll guide your students to safety by positioning their hands correctly to the next secure grip.
2. An Artist, where you’ll complete paintings accurately before time runs out.
3. A Gym Teacher, using the cursor to keep multiple balls in the air (or keepy-uppy).
4. A Spy, navigating your character through a retro-style maze while avoiding obstacles (a classic mouse-avoider game).
These are only a few of the jobs you’ll be taking on within “Mouse Work“.
Delving deeper into these roles, fresh opportunities will unveil themselves, while familiar ones will reappear with intriguing surprises along the way.
Although you can play the entire game on your own, the tasks become more intense when you’re playing locally with two to four players. Multiplayer introduces a host of new challenges to each task.
Working as a team could mean stumbling into one another when roped together or needing to join hands to cross wide spaces in certain situations. In such tasks, you might have to combine your efforts to lift and pull objects that are beyond the strength of a single mouse. Some games also introduce asymmetrical abilities, requiring each player to manipulate the game using distinct mechanics!
Regardless of your effort, it won’t be in vain. Completing tasks grants you Cheese, and you can spend it all on customizing your mice with adorable accessories such as hats, bow ties, sneakers… the works! The game Mouse Work is set to launch shortly after the Nintendo Switch 2 release.
