Moon Studios, creators of “Ori and the Blind Forest” and its sequel, have declared their full independence status during the second episode of their Wicked Inside Showcase. During this event, they also unveiled The Breach as an Early Access title named “No Rest for the Wicked.” Take a look at the video below to learn more about it.
The video presents Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol, offering a succinct summary of Moon Studios’ past, including discussions about their period collaborating with Take-Two Interactive’s independent publishing label, Private Division.
Korol mentioned that the publisher for “No Rest for the Wicked” was actually Private Division, a branch under Take-Two Interactive.
According to Mahler, it came as a surprise when Take-Two announced their plan to part ways with Private Division. Upon careful consideration, they identified a promising opportunity.
Following prolonged discussions, we finalized a deal to reacquire the publishing rights for ‘No Rest for the Wicked’. This move allows Moon Studios to operate independently, as Korol clarified. He added that this legal process required patience and discretion, as we couldn’t disclose details during its progress.
Mahler enthusiastically concludes by declaring, “Everything is wrapped up, which means Moon Studios is now completely autonomous!
We’re confident that this will further reinforce your trust in our vision, as we now have the freedom to create ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ according to our desires, without any need for pauses or interruptions.
Afterward, they discuss the latest addition to the game No Rest for the Wicked, referred to as The Breach. Korol explains that this is the most significant content upgrade for No Rest for the Wicked thus far.
Korol expressed, “We’ve understood your message clearly. You’re asking for a richer campaign experience from us. You desire additional stories, diverse play areas, tougher opponents to battle, challenging bosses to prove yourself against. In essence, more of all aspects. That’s precisely what we’ve been working on.
In the new version, the narrative of “No Rest for the Wicked” continues immediately following the events where Ellsworth goes back to Sacrament. This segment delves into the bond between Ellsworth and his daughter, Odessa, as he assists her in breaking free from confinement.
In this upcoming update, The Breach expands its horizons by introducing fresh territories for players to delve into. Remarkably, this expansion effectively quadruples the game’s world size, according to the developers. Among these territories are the Lowland Meadows, which will also introduce new adversaries.
The update introduces not only fresh weapons but also Gauntlets and Wands. The Gauntlet incorporates an array of professional wrestling maneuvers such as the suplex and the dropkick, in addition to its fistfighting moves.
The update will include new armaments in the shape of Gauntlets and Wands. The Gauntlet comes equipped with a variety of pro-wrestling techniques, including the suplex and the dropkick, as well as its martial arts-oriented moveset.
The title “No Rest for the Wicked” is now accessible in Early Access on PC platforms. After leaving Early Access, the game will also be launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
