As a long-time fan of television shows and a connoisseur of pop culture, I must say that this year has been quite a rollercoaster for many beloved series. The constant renewals and cancellations can leave one feeling like they’re navigating the treacherous waters of a reality TV competition show!
Everybody wants more Nobody Wants This.
As an utterly smitten fan, I can’t help but gush over the swift approval for another season of the Netflix sensation, where the captivating Kristen Bell and Adam Brody enchant us as star-crossed lovers Joanne and Noah. Though much about Erin Foster’s series is yet to be unveiled, Jackie Tohn, our beloved Esther—Noah’s resilient yet endearing sister-in-law—offered a tantalizing peek into what lies ahead for us fans.
She shared with TopMob News at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event on November 19th that since we’re now in season two, it’s only natural to delve more into each character’s narrative. Given the format of our show being a half-hour series on Netflix, there’s a wealth of information to explore. She believes that in season one, they achieved this skillfully, and the stories didn’t just serve as foundation, they were substantial. For season two, she assures us we’ll be diving even deeper into everyone’s storylines.
She playfully hinted that the project will kick off in February, and she added with enthusiasm, “We’ve already set up the writers’ room, and it’s all systems go!” (Don’t forget to catch more details from Elle‘s event on TopMob News tonight, Nov. 20 at 11 p.m.)
The 44-year-old also reflected on the show’s positive reception, and how meaningful it’s been.
Jackie exclaimed, “It’s incredible, really! You put together a show like this, and you can never predict the outcome. Sometimes you create content, but nobody seems to watch it. Then, you produce something and everyone adores it. The title, Nobody Wants This, is quite ironic, given the situation. It’s truly thrilling!
On September 26, Nobody Wants This debuted on Netflix, and by October 10, the streaming service had confirmed a second part of the romantic comedy series. In their announcement, Netflix playfully stated, “It seems no one wants this story to conclude.
For the creator Erin, who built the series partially around her real-life relationship with Simon Tikhman, the show’s success has been an unparalleled dream realized.
Speaking about it, she declared that working on “Nobody Wants This” is an unforgettable milestone of my career. The talented cast, team behind the scenes, producers, and executives have collectively shaped this series into a remarkable piece, and witnessing viewers’ responses since its release has surpassed any dream I could imagine. Justice for healthy relationships – that’s what true romance is about!
The 42-year-old, who happens to be the daughter of musician David Foster, had earlier given some clues about what a potential second season of the show could entail.
In her interview with IndieWire in September, Erin expressed that the storyline in season one progressed at a leisurely pace. If there’s a season two, she would prefer to maintain the same slow pace, as she doesn’t want us to rush things too quickly.
As she quipped, “I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”
