Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Confirms USB Mouse Support For Nintendo Switch 2 in Video

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to offer flexibility, as it appears users can employ one of its Joy-Con 2 controllers as a functional mouse for suitable games. Remarkably, this console might also accommodate standard computer mice. In a demonstrative video featuring the Nintendo Switch 2 adaptation of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, Koei Tecmo has disclosed that gameplay can be seamlessly controlled by simply connecting a conventional USB mouse to play the strategic game.

In the video, Michi Ryu demonstrated how Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening on the Nintendo Switch 2 performs better with mouse-like controls using the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Ryu further explained that players can easily switch between these mouse-like controls and traditional controller controls by pressing the SL button. Lastly, he mentioned that a regular mouse can be connected to the Switch 2 via USB port for continued play.

It’s important to mention that when using Joy-Con 2 in mouse mode, having additional keys is advantageous because Ryu demonstrated some useful shortcuts during gameplay, such as adjusting time speed. These shortcuts were intended to streamline gameplay and Ryu likened the mouse-like controls to those seen in the PC version of the game.

Nintendo confirmed that the Joy-Con 2 would have mouse functionality during their April Direct presentation when they unveiled additional details about the Switch 2. During this presentation, the company also announced a unique game, Drag x Drive, designed specifically for the new mouse feature – a multiplayer basketball game where players are wheelchair-bound. The game utilizes two Joy-Con 2 controllers functioning as mice, which can be moved across a surface to mimic pushing a wheelchair. This year, this competitive 3-on-3 title is expected to hit the market.

During this period, additional game titles will also incorporate the mouse functionality of the Switch 2’s controllers, such as the forthcoming “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”. A demonstration of “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” during Nintendo’s Treehouse: Live stream highlighted how players can use a Joy-Con 2 controller in mouse mode for improved precision in the first-person adventure game. Transitioning to mouse mode within the game will be effortless, as players just need to lay a Joy-Con 2 flat on a surface to activate it.

In the “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition”, players can enjoy mouse mode for enhanced precision during first-person fight scenes. Additionally, the game supports other Switch 2 features such as gyroscope mode, which, with practice, offers even greater accuracy in controlling the game. Game director Adam Badowski expressed excitement, stating, “We’re thrilled to introduce Nintendo players to the gritty future world for the first time. With the versatility of the Nintendo Switch 2 system, you can experience the City of Dreams whether at home or on-the-go.

On June 5th, you’ll find the Nintendo Switch 2 in stores, accompanied by an array of debut games such as “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” and “Mario Kart World”.
