Nolan shortlisted to direct Bond?

With Amazon now acquiring the Bond franchise, there’s been lots of talk about where it might head next. David Heyman has come aboard as producer, and there’s word that the new Bond will be revealed in the fall. This means a director is likely to be appointed shortly afterwards, with Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan being among those under consideration. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t Christopher Nolan himself; instead, it’s his sibling Jonathan, an unexpected choice given his extensive writing credits on Christopher’s films.

Additionally, ‘Conclave’ and ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ director Edward Berger, as well as fellow Academy Award nominee Dennis Villeneuve, are being considered for the Bond director role. Both have been in contention previously when Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson were overseeing the production.

I firmly believe that the other two directors under consideration are equally impressive choices. One of them is Edgar Wright, renowned for his ‘cornetto trilogy’ with Simon Pegg. His upcoming remake of ‘The Running Man’ this Autumn will undoubtedly impact his selection as the final choice.

The second contender on the list is Paul King, who has achieved tremendous success with the initial two ‘Paddington’ films and is now working on ‘Wonka’. Notably, he had Heyman as his producer for both of these projects.

Opportunities will be given for everyone to present their concepts to the producers, yet the timing of filming is crucial since these directors have multiple projects in progress. This appears to have been the case with Alfonso Cuarón, who was initially considered a front-runner. By Christmas, we’ll likely know who it is, but honestly, we hope that each contender gets a chance to direct a Bond film.
