For a small studio, revealing and launching their game on the same day can be incredibly thrilling, but what if they find themselves sharing the spotlight with an Oblivion Remastered release? This could potentially overshadow their own hard-earned effort after months of dedicated work.
Earlier this week, the developers at Red Soul Games, creators of Post Trauma, discovered themselves facing a challenging situation. On the 22nd of April 2025, they released their game – only to find that Bethesda had scheduled its reveal livestream for the same day and subsequently launched the remastered RPG version.
In the event of a shadow drop, other matters might be overshadowed or pushed aside, as was the case when Raw Fury’s founder, Jonas Antonsson, stepped forward to support Red Soul Games.
He shared that we lack the financial resources and manpower to act impulsively, so everything is strategically planned out. This includes timing the release, considering other releases, in an attempt to increase the odds of gaining attention. Antonsson expresses his fondness for Oblivion, as he used to play it when he was younger.
Despite numerous new games emerging daily, particularly on Steam, he deeply empathizes with our team and the developer who has collaborated with us for years, whose game reflects his dedication and passion. Regardless of when a title launches, it inevitably encounters competition. However, Oblivion Remastered was an exception, drawing substantial attention during and post-launch.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but chuckle at the playful spirit of Red Soul Games! They’ve recently shared a hilarious video on Twitter, announcing a “spiritual re-release” date of June 23rd. This means they’ll be streaming the game and giving away some cool goodies. Now, despite the laughter, it’s important to note that the game itself isn’t being taken off the shelves – it’s still available on all platforms where it originally launched. But the team is taking this unexpected turn in stride, focusing on continuing their work on Post Trauma.
Initially, there was apprehension that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might get overshadowed by Oblivion Remastered, but it appears that didn’t come to pass. Sandfall Interactive announced they have surpassed one million sales of their latest RPG, and this figure doesn’t even account for those playing through Game Pass.
