This unexpectedly makes identifying the North Star an invaluable survival technique, beyond just being a fascinating trivia fact.

To put it simply, Hardcore Mode is only scratching the surface of what it offers. It completely disables fast travel, so every trip could turn into an exciting escapade or a precarious predicament. Additionally, players will face a tough decision when selecting three disadvantageous traits from a pool of ten. Some examples include “Somnambulant” which might find you waking up in an unexpected location, “Bad Luck” that reduces the amount you can carry, and “Menace” where committing crimes leaves a permanent mark on your character.

In simpler terms, navigating will be tougher without landmarks, merchants will pay less for what you sell, and fixing things will be much more expensive. Essentially, it’s like stepping back into the harsh realities of medieval life, just as those deeply interested in history have been asking for.
