Oblivion remaster seemingly confirmed as Elder Scrolls fans find screenshots online

It feels like an unspoken truth now, but some freshly unearthed snapshots seem almost undeniable proof that we’re on the brink of an Oblivion remaster!

It’s been 19 years since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was initially launched, and it’s quite uncommon for a game to commemorate such a milestone by relaunching itself.

It seems like Bethesda and Xbox are indeed planning to bring back their famous RPG, as it looks like a comeback is imminent.

For those who follow gaming updates closely, it won’t come as a shock – numerous leaks and inside information from the industry have turned the game into something well-known among us by now.

It seems that despite neither Bethesda nor Xbox officially confirming it yet, it’s highly probable now due to what appears to be an error from Singaporean studio Virtuos – a studio recognized for its work on ports and remasters, and one of the teams currently developing the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

As an avid gamer, my eyes were drawn to some intriguing screenshots that started buzzing around in a Resetera discussion thread. These images were from the Virtuos website, revealing side-by-side comparisons between the original Oblivion and an anticipated 2025 version of this classic game.

Even though Virtuos swiftly deleted the webpage, it came a bit too late since snapshots of the site, together with pictures of the remastered version, were already popping up all over social media platforms.

Despite numerous enthusiasts being engrossed in appreciating the game’s sleek, modern graphics, the leaked details from Virtuos hint at other intriguing aspects concerning the game’s potential release.

Initially, it’s worth noting that the upcoming game will debut on platforms such as PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. This is noteworthy because earlier speculations suggested that the game would only be available on PC and Xbox.

Additionally, hints were given on the site suggesting there might be a Premium Version of Oblivion Remastered, potentially offering extra weapons and accessories such as the well-known horse armor.

The website didn’t give any details about when the mysterious remaster would become playable, however, luckily, another resource has provided a possible solution.

In the most recent episode of his Game Morning Stream on Giant Bomb, Jeff Grubb, one of their journalists, disclosed that the game will be launched during the week starting from 21st April – indeed, it’s coming out next week.

Bethesda chose to keep their plans for the game under wraps because they intended to release it unexpectedly, or as a surprise, known as a “shadow drop”.

It’s uncertain whether Bethesda will unveil a new game soon, but if you’re eagerly awaiting an Oblivion remake, it looks like your wait could be over in just another week.
