Oblivion Remastered Does Not Have Official Mod Support

Summary

Announcement and release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered have been made! Intriguingly, it was shadow-dropped during the announcement itself – meaning the long-anticipated remaster is available for players to explore right away, and fans can’t wait to jump in.

Yet, it’s worth noting that unlike contemporary Bethesda titles, this game won’t feature built-in mod support. Consequently, console gamers won’t have the liberty to modify their games in a manner similar to how they did with Skyrim, Starfield, or Fallout 4.

Oblivion Remastered Launches Without Mod Support

Mods will still be made for PC, but there’s no official support from Bethesda

As a gamer, I stumbled upon the question of whether mods work for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. To answer that, I headed over to Bethesda’s support page, and here’s what it said: “Sadly, they don’t. If you’re running into any gameplay issues with mods enabled, the first thing to do is uninstall those mods. After that, it’s a good idea to verify your game files on Steam or Xbox App.

In essence, while it’s perfectly fine for you to modify your game, please note that Bethesda won’t offer assistance or endorsement to mod creators, nor will they host the mods themselves.

In stark contrast to the advanced modding capabilities found in recent Bethesda games, which come equipped with specialized mod managers for users without experience in modifying saves, this doesn’t appear to offer such a feature. As a result, console players may not have access to the same variety of mods as they do in other Bethesda games. Unfortunately, it seems that this game won’t include a similar modding option.

Of course, it’s likely that modders will continue to produce content for Oblivion Remastered. However, it might be slightly more challenging and time-consuming. We’ll just have to observe and find out who among them manages to release their creations first.

In terms of custom content, The Elder Scrolls series, particularly, boasts an overwhelming amount of modifications. Notably, among all games hosted on Nexus Mods, Skyrim holds the first and second spot for being the most modded game twice – once for each of its releases. Even the original Oblivion manages to secure seventh place in this category.
