In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, I found myself on the Stendarr’s Mercy quest, a mission that saw me taking on the task of removing a curse from a fellow named Kellen.
It’s intriguing to note that the same curse seems connected to the Crusader Gauntlets, an artifact once donned by a forebearer of Kellen. To claim those gauntlets for yourself, you must first break Kellen’s curse.
We’ll assist you with the very same task as well! Continue reading and discover the method for removing Kellen’s curse, which is an integral part of this adventure.
How to Lift Curse from Kellen During Stendarr’s Mercy Quest | Oblivion Remastered
If you’ve found your way here, it means you’ve probably heard about Kellen and his affliction already. To refresh your memory, the current stage of this quest follows shortly after you discover that the Gauntlets of the Crusader in the Chapel of Stendarr (Chorrol) cannot be moved, and they are somehow linked to Kellen’s curse.
At present, approach Father Areldur at the chapel for a chat. He’ll inform you that Kellen is the one to speak with regarding the curse related to the gauntlets.
Kellen is located within the Chapel Hall, which you can access by descending the stairs from the central area of the chapel, as indicated above.
After getting acquainted with Kellen, feel free to inquire about the curse that Areldur mentioned to you. He will share his story with you. Additionally, don’t hesitate to ask him more questions regarding Areldur as well.
After chatting with Kellen, make your way back to Areldur. Discuss with him regarding the Curse and Kellen’s predicament. He will inform you that the sole method to release Kellen from the curse is by appealing to Stendarr for leniency.
Take the Curse Upon Yourself
Follow Areldur’s advice and make your way towards the circular altar dedicated to the Nine, situated right in the heart of the chapel. Interact with it when you get there, and you’ll be asked if you want to pray to Stendarr. Just say yes when prompted. Doing so will reward you with the Lay Hands Spell, which can help you free Kellen!
Go back to Kellen and heal him using Lay Hands. This act will lift the curse from him, but you’ll bear it instead. Be aware that the Curse of the Consumed will now drain your Fatigue steadily. It would be wise to focus on completing the Knights of the Nine quests after this one, as they have the power to remove that effect!
Regardless, Kellen has broken free from his enchantment. As a result, you’re now able to claim the Gauntlets of the Crusader! Retrieve them and use them to complete the Stendarr’s Mercy mission in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. You can now head back to the Priory of the Nine to carry on with the questline.
Kellen is no longer under a spell. This allows you to grab the Gauntlets of the Crusader and finish the Stendarr’s Mercy quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Return to the Priory of the Nine to continue with the questline.
