As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours traversing the fantastical landscapes of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing about this service operations transfer to NetEase Games. On one hand, I’m excited for the prospect of fresh content and potential enhancements that a new partnership might bring. Starting January 16, 2025, management of service operations for the western version of “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent”, a free-to-play game, will be handed over from Square Enix to NetEase Games, as stated by both parties.

The mobile role-playing game, “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent,” was initially released in Japan on October 28, 2020, for iOS and Android devices. It later expanded to North America and Europe on July 27, 2022, followed by China on November 29, 2022, and Southeast Asia on December 7, 2023. Notably, NetEase Games has been overseeing the game’s operations in both China and Southeast Asia.

By Thursday, January 16, 2025, the management of services for “Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent” will pass over to NetEase Interactive Entertainment.

As our 2.5-year milestone nears in January 2025, we thought it prudent to ensure ongoing high-quality content for all. Our solution? Collaboration with NetEase.

We’re working on extra story content that many of you have requested, and it will be released once the operations have moved to NetEase.
