Official Alien: Romulus Reebok Sneakers Drop On August 27th

As a die-hard fan of both Reebok and the Alien franchise, I must say this latest collaboration has me absolutely thrilled! My childhood memories are filled with the iconic designs from the previous collaborations, and now, here we are, on the brink of another masterpiece – the Reebok Alien Romulus sneaker.

Reebok has had a long-standing partnership with the Alien franchise, dating back to the 1986 film “Aliens”. Over the years, they’ve produced and designed several unique sneakers inspired by this franchise from 2016 to 2020. These shoes have proven to be highly popular and expensive on online marketplaces such as eBay and StockX. Now, they’re releasing a new shoe model that will play a significant role in the upcoming film “Alien: Romulus“.

The Reebok Alien Romulus sneaker is constructed based on the renowned BB4000 II frame from Reebok Basketball, boasting an upper made entirely of leather, a weathered, film-like finish, and the logo of Weyland-Yutani on both the tongue and heel. It also includes an EVA foam midsole, a durable rubber cupsole with a textured grip pattern, and various Easter eggs for enthusiasts. To get your hands on these exclusive sneakers, mark your calendars for 9pm PT / 12am ET on August 26th / 27th. A limited number will be up for grabs, available for purchase at $170 from the Reebok website.

A Scene From Aliens Inspired the Story for Romulus

The upcoming film titled “Romulus” is being marketed as more of a spin-off than a direct sequel within the “Alien” franchise, introducing a band of young space settlers who encounter the most horrifying life form in the cosmos. Director Fede Alvarez has shared that a deleted scene from James Cameron’s “Aliens,” featuring young colonists, served as inspiration for the storyline behind Romulus.

As a storyteller with a knack for novelty, my initial impulse was to explore an uncharted territory – portraying characters who aren’t seasoned professionals or scientists; instead, they’re young adults just like us. I found this intriguing because it allows the audience to step into the shoes of individuals experiencing space for the first time, rather than following experts who already know the ropes. When characters are depicted as professionals, their knowledge can sometimes overshadow ours. However, when they’re in their early 20s, they’re still figuring out how to work the airlock – making their struggles and discoveries more relatable.

He went on to say, “As children, their parents were likely crew members on the same vessel. That’s how they became acquainted. They share a deep history because they are each other’s only family. Their bond is so strong it feels more like a surrogate sibling relationship; some of them even shared living quarters. Many of the film’s main themes revolve around siblinghood and its implications, and these personal connections also tie into the larger plot involving Romulus and Weyland-Yutani.”

As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be watching “Alien,” starring Cailee Spaeny (from Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. This masterpiece is directed by the talented Fede Alvarez, known for Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2). The characters in this film were originally created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. I can hardly wait!

Alien: Romulus hits theaters on August 16th.
