For generations, Transformers have been among the most revered robot characters in fiction, beyond the planet Cybertron, due to their ongoing conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons which has been depicted through films, TV shows, comics, and other media. Previously, Optimus Prime’s and Megatron’s armies have collaborated with teams such as the Avengers, G.I. Joe, the Ghostbusters, and even Star Trek’s Enterprise. In an unexpected collaboration, one of the franchise’s most fearsome antagonists is set to receive an upgrade in a thrilling crossover event, as Megatron merges with the iconic monster Godzilla.
In summary, while Transformers and Godzilla have never crossed paths in films, TV shows, or comics, the Autobots are breaking the boundary by blending their worlds. Megatron, the Decepticon leader, is getting a unique makeover as a fusion of Godzilla and Grimlock in a new figure. This exciting merchandise, priced at $70.99, can be found at Entertainment Earth. The Transformers franchise describes it as a “dream collaboration” between the two franchises, showcasing Megatron with Godzilla-inspired coloring and markings, complete with clear effect parts for recreating the heat ray firing effect reminiscent of Godzilla!

Hardly Megatron’s First Time As A Dinosaur
In the original Transformers animated series, Megatron transformed into a weapon like a gun or tank. However, in spin-offs such as Cybertronian productions, this wasn’t always the case. For instance, ‘Transformers: Beast Wars’ introduced a different Megatron who was sent to ancient Earth with his Predacons, battling Optimus Primal and his Maximals. Conversely, in the latest ‘Transformers: Rise of The Beasts’, Optimus Primal was transported to the live-action world, but the same didn’t happen for Megatron, the leader of the Predacons.
Throughout the span of “Beast Wars”, the conflict persisted between Primal and Megatron, ultimately leading the war to reach Cybertron itself. In “Transformers: Beast Machines”, the Maximals underwent drastic transformations on their home planet, but Megatron seized control, forcing Primal and his allies to hide underground. The subsequent series concluded with both leaders meeting their demises, which in turn led to a new Cybertron being rebuilt, merging the organic and technological elements to establish a tranquil future.
The Next Big Transformers Crossover
Indeed, it’s evident that the Cybertronians have more than just the Godzilla crossover in their future plans. In fact, Paramount Pictures is currently developing the Transformers’ initial live-action crossover with G.I. Joe, titled “Rise of The Beasts“. This film seems to be paving the way for the infamous Cobra fighting organization to collide with these robots. Although a release date has not been announced yet, it’s clear that significant progress is being made behind-the-scenes.
