Okami Sequel Announced, Directed by Hideki Kamiya

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that news like this makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. The return of beloved classics such as Onimusha and now, the long-awaited sequel to the masterpiece that is Okami, has my heart racing with anticipation.

Apart from Capcom reviving Onimusha, there’s exciting news about Okami getting a follow-up. The title of this sequel is still unknown, and details like its release date and platforms are yet to be revealed. However, it’s being helmed by Hideki Kamiya, who was also involved in the original creation. Here’s the announcement trailer, which indicates that Amaterasu will make a comeback.

The trailer hints that this upcoming game follows in a similar style as the initial one, possibly featuring Orochi again, but it’s yet to be confirmed. Development on this project has begun anew under the studio Clovers, who are essentially reviving the original developers, so the release might be some time away.

Currently, the game titled “Okami” is accessible on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and personal computers. This action-adventure game takes its inspiration from Japanese folklore, with gameplay similar to “The Legend of Zelda.” In this story, the Shinto goddess Amaterasu transforms into a white wolf to combat the encroaching darkness in the land.
