Call the Midwife star Olly Rix is set to join the cast of Casualty.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that come next month, I’ll be making my screen debut in the gripping new miniseries, Internal Affairs. I’ve been cast as the captivating yet enigmatic character, Dr. Flynn Byron, the clinical lead. Can’t wait for you all to see it!
Rix’s personality can be seen as layered, shaped significantly by his past struggles and an intense desire to leave a lasting impression.
Rix expressed his joy at becoming part of the Casualty team in an intriguing character. Flynn enters this world with a contrasting past, leading to a captivating and thrilling narrative involving Internal Affairs and more.
“It’s a brilliant new chapter for the show and I am excited for the audience to get to know Flynn.”
In the role of the head of Holby City ED, Flynn now becomes part of the National Health Service, having recently completed his service elsewhere. (Official BBC description)
He’s a determined individual, steadfast in his mission to create an impact. He tackles the obstacle of transforming a system burdened by red tape, simultaneously dealing with the scars from his past and a deceit that could potentially bring him down.
Roxanne Harvey, executive producer for Casualty at BBC Studios, shared that Flynn’s storyline is expected to strike a chord with viewers as it delves into the emotional impact of working in the NHS, the price one pays when faced with difficult choices, and the hope for redemption after confronting the results of one’s actions.
Previous viewers of TV shows might recall seeing Rix portraying Matthew Aylward in Call the Midwife; his character exited the series in March 2024.
