Olympian Bruno Lobo Rescues Drowning Woman in Heart-Pounding Video

Bruno Lobo is using his heroic act as a PSA.

As an ardent admirer putting it in my own words, I, the seventh-place finisher at the 2024 Paris Olympics for Team Brazil in kite sailing, had a heart-stopping encounter on January 10th. While I was fine-tuning my camera gear for my sport, I found myself in a situation that turned out to be far from ordinary – I saved a young woman from drowning! The harrowing incident, which I managed to record on film, serves as a stark reminder to my followers of the importance of water safety.

In his January 12th Instagram post, translated from Portuguese, Lobo wrote: “The day I became God’s tool to save this young woman, all praise and recognition to Him. Always be cautious around bodies of water like the sea or rivers, even unfamiliar places, as currents can often be exceptionally powerful!

At approximately 5:40 in the afternoon, the 31-year-old individual shared that he chose to venture outside to try out his fresh camera gear, although the weather was less than ideal. Not long after setting off towards the sea, he overheard a young woman (whose identity remains unknown) shouting for assistance.

Lobo shared, “I overheard a desperate plea and turned towards the girl who seemed to be drowning. In an instant, I moved toward her with my kite, attempting to soothe her and instructed her to climb onto my back since she was exhausted and had no strength left. Using my gear, I managed to transport her securely to the shore where the lifeguards immediately provided aid at the beach. Fortunately, everything turned out alright.

In the video, Lobo guided the young lady safely to the beach, where she rejoiced with her companion upon arrival. Shortly afterward, medical staff rushed to help her. As soon as they were on dry land, the woman gratefully embraced Lobo, while her friend shook hands with him.

After his harrowing experience, Dr. Lobo, a practicing orthopedist as well, underlined the necessity of remaining cautious while swimming in the sea.

He also cautioned in his video not to venture beyond the breakers, even if you’re a strong swimmer, since there’s a powerful undercurrent. This could potentially drag you out to sea, similar to what recently happened to that young lady.

Even though Bruno played a crucial role in saving the woman’s life, he maintained a modest demeanor at the end of his post by stating, “All I did was what was necessary and within my abilities!
