As I gaze upon these vibrant images from the Olympic Games, it reminds me of my own journey as an athlete, filled with triumphs, disappointments, and unforgettable moments that have shaped who I am today. Each competitor, every leap, every throw, carries a story within, a testament to their grit, determination, and passion for their sport.

Lindsey Vonn is gearing up for a comeback run on the slopes.

The Olympic gold medal winner plans to rejoin the United States ski team, months after she underwent successful knee surgery and more than five years after she announced her retirement.

She posted on Instagram on November 14th, “Time to head to Colorado…”, accompanied by a video of herself skiing. She added, “I wonder if my USA Ski Team uniform will still fit, one day at a time.

In a conversation with The New York Times, Lindsey Vonn articulated her motive for getting back into the sport. She said, “Clearly, I wouldn’t make this move if I didn’t anticipate racing again. I have ambitions. I enjoy going fast. How quickly can I go? That’s still a mystery to me.

The athlete went on to say, “However, I won’t set myself up for failure. Instead, I aim to savor this experience and hopefully it leads me to World Cup competitions. My return to the U.S. ski team wouldn’t be possible without ambition.

According to the New York Times, Vonn had a knee replacement operation on her right knee in April, but she was able to start skiing again without pain as the summer began. Since August, she has secretly trained for 15 days on snowy tracks in Europe and New Zealand, and plans to join the U.S. ski team’s training sessions at Copper Mountain in Colorado, which start on November 16th.

Lindsey Vonn expressed her fondness for racing in Cortina, mentioning that she’s had numerous victories there. Regarding future races in Cortina, she stated, “I can’t predict the upcoming months or the next year and a half with certainty, so I can’t confirm whether it’s a possibility at this point.

She expressed her gratitude for her current role, stating, “Given my professional journey, I’m grateful to find myself here.” She added, “There’s no stress. It feels like old times, just me facing the challenge, much like when I first started climbing.

The author of “Rise: My Story” isn’t dismissing the possibility of making a fifth Olympic appearance, aiming to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Lindsey Vonn, who’s won twelve World Cup races there, expressed her fondness for racing in Cortina and noted her success in the area, stating: “I’ve always loved competing in Cortina. However, I’m unsure about my plans for the next few months, or even the next year and a half, so I can’t definitively say if returning to Cortina is an option.

At this point, Vonn added, she’s not chasing anything or trying to prove anything to anyone.

She expressed her gratitude for where she is now given her career achievements, saying, “It’s a relief to find myself here without any stress; it feels like I’m alone on a mountain, just as it did at the start.
