2023 promises to be an enthralling year for enthusiasts of the series “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint“. Both an anime and a live-action film are in development. Although details about the anime, initially announced at Anime Expo 2024, have yet to be disclosed – including the studio responsible for animation and release date – fans can still look forward to the live-action adaptation slated for 2025. Here’s what we currently know about it.
Back in September 2019, Munpia, along with Realize Pictures, initially declared that the popular web novel “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” by singNsong would be transformed into five movies. The first of these films, titled “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet,” is slated for release in Summer 2025. This movie will feature Ahn Hye-Seop from “Business Proposal” as Kim Dokja and Lee Min-ho from “Boys Over Flowers,” known as the “Chemistry God,” as Yoo Jonghyuk. The initial glimpses of this film, including its release date and key visuals, were first revealed at the Busan International Film Festival on October 5th, 2024. These sneak peeks were later shared by the show’s producer, Won Dong-yeon. One of the key visuals highlights Dokja’s famous weapon, Unbreakable Faith, while another depicts a memorable early scene from the series showing Jonghyuk holding Dokja by the neck on a bridge.
At the Busan International Film Market, “Universal Reader Perspective” is being unveiled for the first time. In English, it will be known as “THE PROPHET”. This title signifies a visionary or seer, and it is intended to capture the attention of audiences worldwide by next summer.

Omniscient Reader’s First Live-Action Movie is Coming This Summer With A Stacked Cast
Although Omniscient Reader’s live-action movie was announced back in 2019, it has seemingly taken its time to reach fans. The movie is directed by Kim Byung-woo and produced by Won Dong-yeon, with Ahn Hye-seop and Lee Min-ho initially cast in the film. However, other cast members were not announced until January 2024. Nonetheless, given that an exciting ensemble has been assembled for this project, it appears that the wait will prove worthwhile.
In addition to Ahn Hye-Seop and Lee Min-ho, the series also attracts fans of BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, who plays Lee Ji-hye. This star power makes the film particularly appealing to followers of the popular K-pop group. Joining Jisoo in the cast are Chae Soo-bin from the hit Netflix series “When the Phone Rings” as Yoo Sang-ah, and Shin Seung Ho, the beloved Crown Prince from “Alchemy of Souls” as Lee Hyun Sung. Other notable actors in the film include:
- Park Ho-san as Gong Pil-doo
- Choi Young-joon as Han Myung-oh
- Nana as Jung Hee-won
The allure of assembling these popular K-drama actors for an adaptation of one of the most renowned webnovels and webtoons is undeniably enticing, capturing fans not only of Korean films but also those fond of “Omniscient Reader“. However, this isn’t the only source of anticipation.
Omniscient Reader’s Producer Hypes One of Its Most Famous Scenes
According to a post by producer Won Dong-yeon on X, the shooting for the upcoming movie was completed towards late May 2024. The post displayed an appropriate celebratory cake in the shape of an overturned train carriage (which serves as the starting point of the story) and a message from the producer hinting at an exceptional film release: “We’re confident that you’ll witness a movie beyond your expectations.” Star Lee Min-ho also took to Instagram to confirm the end of filming, sharing some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the movie set.
Now we are wrapping up the filming, I have full faith that all the actors and crew’s hard work will shine brightly. I believe you will encounter a movie beyond your expectations soon.
I anticipate that you will witness a film of exceptional quality by 2025, during summer.

As a fervent fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The cameras have stopped rolling, and the release window has been unveiled for the much-anticipated “Omniscient Reader” movie. Although there’s no solid release date or official trailer yet, it seems that the film is on track for a smooth launch without any further delays.
Admittedly, live-action adaptations have often fallen short of expectations in the past. But with the first film promising to be a hit, I’m optimistic that the producers will stick to their plan and bring the entire series to life through subsequent films. If anything, this live-action adaptation could serve as the ideal way for us fans to immerse ourselves in the franchise until the anime makes its debut. Here’s hoping for a cinematic experience that surpasses all expectations!
If you’re not familiar with the series, “Omniscient Reader” revolves around Kim Dokja, whose beloved book, “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse”, unexpectedly turns into a real-life scenario, causing chaos in both his life and the world. Since he was the only reader who persevered until the very end of the novel, Dokja utilizes his unique foreknowledge of the future to maneuver through this new reality and make an attempt to prevent the disastrous ending that threatens everyone at the story’s conclusion.
Omniscient Reader’s webtoon adaptation by Sleepy C is available to read via Webtoon.
