Once Human Gets Dedicated Trading Zones in Latest Update

Starry Studio, the game developer behind “Once Human,” has revealed that they’re introducing trading areas within the game. They made this announcement in a recent update on Steam and elaborated on the new feature which lets players exchange items called Deviations either directly with one another or via automated Vending Machines.

The article from the studio stated that “Trading is essential for building relationships within Nalcott.” Beyond obtaining new goods, it can even initiate friendships with individuals who may have been otherwise unknown to you.

Prior to setting up specialized trading areas, players would strategically position their Vending Machines in popular locations such as Blackfell, to maximize visibility and usage by other players. Unfortunately, this practice led to numerous issues like lag and congestion that players often found themselves navigating around.

In the game “Once Human”, the special trading area known as the Harvesters’ Market has been introduced with today’s update. This market can be found in the scenarios: Manibus, Evolution’s Call, and The Way of Winter. Unfortunately, Prismverse’s Clash does not include this market due to its faction-based gameplay structure.

The Harvesters’ Market featured these particular situations due to several reasons, with low player population being the most significant. Within these areas, players have the opportunity to set up their personal Special Trade Machines, which can be utilized by other players for trading purposes.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the placement of the latest Harvesters’ Market is causing some issues due to my territories’ boundaries. Unfortunately, I might need to move my territories because of this change. Fortunately, the game will send me notifications about this shift. In case I can’t relocate before the market goes live, don’t worry! My territory won’t be lost; it will automatically return and can be repositioned in a new location later on.

To access the newly introduced Special Vending Machines, players need to first activate the standard vending machine through the Memetic system. Additionally, players can personalize their Special Vending Machines by applying the same skins used for the regular machines. Noteworthy, these Special Vending Machines operate independently and do not require a power source.

Regarding the issue of unwanted and dormant Special Vending Machines, the studio has clarified that these machines will be taken back without any intervention needed on your part. If you’re one of the players who owns such a machine, you’ll receive an automatic refund in the form of building materials. The previously unavailable items will once again become sellable when you place a new Special Vending Machine.

It’s important to mention that each participant can place just one Special Vending Machine. This rule was implemented so that the Harvesters’ Markets could comfortably host a large number of players.

Vending machines, traditionally known for dispensing warm or cold drinks and snacks, are now incorporating a freezer compartment as an additional feature. With this new addition, vendors can offer a wider variety of foods that won’t spoil easily, allowing for extended sales periods without the concern of food going bad.

In addition to the recently updated Harvester Markets, the latest release from Once Human now includes long-term scenario servers as well. To learn more about upcoming updates from this studio, take a look at our coverage of their planned update timeline in the coming months.
