Last summer saw the release of Starry Studio’s free-to-play post-apocalyptic multiplayer survival game, “Once Human.” Since its launch, it’s been quite a ride, attracting a substantial player base. Although we haven’t managed to keep all those initial over 200,000 players hooked, there’s still a dedicated group of us gaming away. That’s why the developers have been consistently rolling out updates, adding fresh content, tweaking game mechanics for better performance, and squashing any pesky bugs that might pop up.
Today’s update for “Once Human” is jam-packed with exciting content! Dubbed as version 1.4.3, this latest patch brings a host of features, new items in the shop, and bug fixes to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience moving forward. One of the standout features in this update is the introduction of persistent servers, also known as non-shutdown servers by the developers. Currently, servers close once the settlement phase of a scenario concludes. This has been a source of feedback from players who felt they couldn’t complete everything a scenario had to offer within its timeframe. With this new update, open servers will be transformed into persistent servers, allowing players to continue playing the scenario even after it has ended.
Maintenance on our “Once Human” server will commence today at 4 PM Pacific Time, and it’s anticipated to last approximately 2 hours. Here you can find the complete list of updates: [Patch Notes Link]
Once Human Update Version 1.4.3 Patch Notes
Non-Shutdown Servers
To allow you to experience scenarios at your own pace, we will introduce non-shutdown servers on March 12 (PST).
Features
1. After the March 12 (PST) update, open servers will be converted into non-shutdown servers after their settlement phases. The conversion process takes approximately 2 hours, during which the server cannot be accessed.
2. Active character data will be retained after the conversion to a non-shutdown server. Players can continue using their characters on the non-shutdown server, exit to Eternaland, or sign up for a new scenario.
3. Note that inactive characters will not be retained on the non-shutdown server but will be sent to Eternaland. Currently, this applies to characters that have been inactive for at least 30 days. However, we plan to significantly ease this restriction in the next quarter to accommodate returning players.

1) Option A: You can exchange Wishstones for Mitsuko’s Marks at the Challenge Shop, or you can get them as rewards during various events.
2) Option B: In the Challenge Shop, you can trade in your Wishstones for Mitsuko’s Marks, or you can obtain them by participating in different events.
3) Option C: To acquire Wishstones, you can either use them at the Challenge Shop in exchange for Mitsuko’s Marks, or you can receive them as part of certain events.

Furthermore, the Solar Power Vending Machine mechanism will be incorporated into the Vending Machine Memetic. Solar Power Vending Machines can exclusively be constructed in specified zones within the Harvesters’ Market, with each player only able to build one per area. Additionally, these vending machines now possess the cooling feature found in refrigerators, allowing them to preserve food for extended durations.
Stardust Chronicle
Users can find their way to Stardust Chronicle by going to Menu > Stardust Chronicle, where they’ll discover all the game modes currently in play, complete with explanations. Some game modes even offer map navigation, allowing players to easily locate and jump into them swiftly.

Optimizations
Hive System
1. Introduced a ‘Private Mode’ for your Hive. Turn this on to make your Hive hidden from others’ searches. By default, it’s turned off, but the Hive manager can adjust this setting in the Settings.
2. Offered members of the Hive the ability to invite new people. With this feature activated, non-leaders can extend invitations to friends, without requiring leader’s approval first. By default, it is deactivated, but the Hive manager can modify this setting in the Settings.
Events
Introduced a ‘bulk redemption’ function to the ongoing ‘Astral Dewlets’ event. Now, players have the ability to redeem items all at once.
Journey System
In this upkeep phase, we’ll streamline the Journey system by combining the positions of Scenario Challenges and Missions, as well as flattening the Scenario Challenge structure for a smoother learning curve for novice players in terms of exploration, conflict, and creation.
The arrangement for Journey tasks and their associated rewards is set to undergo adjustments. These changes might influence your ongoing tasks and rewards status. To account for these modifications during maintenance, extra compensation will be provided alongside the regular maintenance compensation.
Deviations
1. Improved the effective range of lighting on Deviations. Deviations can now receive light from a two-story vertical range.
2. Changed the acquisition methods for certain Deviations, as per the following table:

– All types of vehicles are no longer permitted to park in trading zones; they also have a 15-second time limit to leave or be forcibly recalled, and summoning vehicles inside strongholds is now restricted.
2. Enhanced the defensive capabilities of vehicles for players:
– Certain construction methods can no longer harm vehicle passengers during vehicle attacks.
3. Enhanced the railroad-vehicle collision physics for better gameplay:
– Vehicles now move more smoothly over railroads.
