One of 2024’s Best Movies Is Returning to Theaters Very Soon

As a fervent admirer of animated films, I can hardly contain my excitement about DreamWorks Animation’s decision to bring back the heartwarming masterpiece, “The Wild Robot,” to theaters once again! Having grown up watching Chris Sanders’ magical creations like “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Croods,” and “Lilo & Stitch,” it’s a dream come true to witness his latest opus grace the silver screen once more.

Remembering the first time I saw this movie, my heart swelled with emotion as Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, Ving Rhames, and Catherine O’Hara breathed life into these enchanting characters. The story of Roz, a robot stranded on an uninhabited island who learns to survive and bond with the animals, resonated deeply with me, tugging at my heartstrings as only the finest animated films can.

With over $323 million earned worldwide from a budget of just $78 million, four Golden Globe nominations under its belt, and a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear that “The Wild Robot” struck a chord with audiences everywhere. The sequel, which has already been announced following the first film’s massive success, promises to continue the tale of Roz and her newfound friends.

When asked about returning for a potential sequel, Sanders expressed his eagerness to delve deeper into this captivating world, while Nyong’o enthusiastically agreed that she would revisit Roz in a heartbeat. I, too, eagerly await the opportunity to immerse myself once more in this extraordinary journey.

In the meantime, I’ll be rewatching “The Wild Robot” on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, or Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu) while patiently counting down the days until its return to theaters on January 17, 2025. And remember, if you can’t find your way home, just follow the path of a robot and a bunch of animals… they’ll lead you straight to humanity!

Apart from the excitement of going back to cinemas, fans can also eagerly anticipate “The Wild Robot 2”, as the follow-up has recently been announced, riding on the tremendous success of the first movie. The film is currently enjoying a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even more impressive score from its audience. In fact, Sanders had mentioned his intention to create a sequel during an interview with NBC back in September 2024.

The filmmaker expressed his strong desire when asked about possibly revisiting a sequel: “I truly feel connected to this project as deeply as my crew does. This movie was an extraordinary labor of love for everyone at the studio, and honestly, I can’t help but imagine returning for more.

During the same interview when asked if she would return for another film, Nyong’o expressed her enthusiasm by saying: “Absolutely! In fact, I adore Roz and am passionate about this project. It’s fantastic that Peter Brown wrote three books, so I’d be more than happy to revisit her character whenever the opportunity arises.

In the vein of Peter Brown’s beloved novel, “The Wild Robot,” tells the story of Roz (Nyong’o), a robot who finds herself marooned on an isolated island. As she navigates her way through this harsh and unfamiliar terrain, Roz forms connections with the local wildlife and takes care of a young goose named Brightbill (Connor). In the video you saw earlier, Connor expresses his delight at the heartwarming bond between Brightbill and Roz: “The connection between Brightbill and Roz is truly enchanting.

You can either rent or purchase “The Wild Robot” on Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) services such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Fandango Now (previously known as Vudu), and it will eventually be streamed on Peacock. Additionally, the animated movie is available in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) and Blu-ray formats.
