One of the Best Animated Movies of the 2010s Is Flying Under the Radar on Netflix

Movies like Shrek, Sing, How to Train Your Dragon, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and numerous other hits produced by DreamWorks and Illumination have a strong track record of drawing large audiences on Netflix. However, one of the top-rated animated films from the past two decades has surprisingly not garnered much attention among subscribers.

Currently, “The Wild Robot” sits atop the Netflix Top 10 Movies, with both “Despicable Me 4” and “Home” also appearing on the chart. Notably, “The LEGO Movie” has just joined Netflix’s offerings, but it hasn’t created a significant impact on their rankings as of now.

From the start, The LEGO Movie has faced underestimation, with many questioning its potential quality due to its toy-based theme. However, much like Barbie, it swiftly silenced these doubts and crafted a profoundly moving narrative around its brand. The film raked in over $470 million at the box office and received widespread acclaim from both fans and critics. Yet surprisingly, it was overlooked when it came to Best Animated Feature nominations at the Academy Awards the following year.

Regardless of the disappointing oversight at the Oscars, The LEGO Movie is generally recognized as one of the top films of the last ten years, and it initiated a series of animated films under Warner Bros., resulting in multiple sequels.

Earlier this month, The LEGO Movie became available on Netflix, but it hasn’t seemed to attract many viewers yet, which is surprising given that it falls under the category of popular animated films that typically draw in Netflix subscribers.
