One fantastic Star Wars television series is now available for free viewing on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. This means that Star Wars enthusiasts have an additional way to watch Star Wars content, apart from a Disney+ subscription. While it’s unclear if all four seasons and 75 episodes of this Star Wars show will be uploaded for free on YouTube, the first episode was added last Friday, with the second episode following today.
The Star Wars series under discussion is none other than “Star Wars Rebels,” a creation of Simon Kinberg, Carrie Beck, and Dave Filoni. For those who may be unaware, this show occurs 14 years following the events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” with the intention of filling in the storyline leading up to “Star Wars: A New Hope.” Remarkably, its tale was reintroduced and continued in 2023 through the live-action Disney+ series titled “Star Wars: Ahsoka.
Although not everyone may agree that Star Wars Rebels is the pinnacle of the Star Wars franchise, it’s widely regarded as one of the top TV shows in the Star Wars universe. This is particularly clear from its impressive 98% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, its audience score on this platform is slightly lower at 85%.
In this galaxy, it’s a bleak period as the Imperial Power maintains its iron grip on the populace through tyranny and terror. This oppressive rule pushes some courageous souls to unite in defiance, forming a resistance movement. The diverse team aboard the starship Ghost, however, stands up for those who can’t defend themselves, kindling the flame that could spark a revolution.
It’s unclear what Disney ultimately aims to achieve with this new Star Wars show, but it seems likely they want to attract Star Wars fans and ultimately drive them towards their streaming service, Disney+. However, after a week, the first episode has only garnered 20,000 views, which is a decent response, but likely not the large audience Disney was anticipating. Furthermore, the comments section on each upload is disabled, making it difficult to determine the level of interest among those watching.
