According to Insider Gaming’s latest report, an enhanced version of Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and WB Games, is soon to be released. This updated edition is expected to offer approximately 10-15 hours of additional content, including new story quests and activities. Remarkably, this extra content will be available as DLC for those who already own the game. The report hints that the price for this DLC might range between $20 and $30.
Initially, news about a potential new adaptation of Hogwarts Legacy emerged in a broader Bloomberg report detailing the backstory of Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In this initial report, journalist Jason Schreier mentioned that certain members from Rocksteady were contributing to the development of this new Hogwarts Legacy version.
Hogwarts Legacy is a sales juggernaut
Initially released in February 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5, Hogwarts Legacy will subsequently become available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch at a later date due to the additional time needed to perfect the versions of the game designed for older hardware.
The game has experienced tremendous commercial success, swiftly ranking as the top-seller among launch month releases and surpassing 24 million copies sold by January 2024. More recently, Hogwarts Legacy was the sixth most popular game sold in the U.S. during August 2024, and currently ranks as the tenth best-selling game of the year.
Given that numerous other game titles within the Warner Bros. Games collection have fallen short of expectations, it’s worth noting that the game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has resulted in a $200 million financial loss for its proprietor.
In simple terms, the fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 by NetherRealm Studios, released in September 2023, swiftly surpassed a milestone of 3 million copies sold. However, since then, no new information about its sales progress has been disclosed.
