One of This Year's Best Games Looks "Night and Day" Better on PS5 Pro

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can attest to the transformative power of gaming hardware upgrades. The PS5 Pro has undeniably caught my attention, especially when it comes to enhancing the visual experience of games like “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”.

2024’s top game appears dramatically improved when played on the PS5 Pro rather than the standard PS5. The high-priced PS5 Pro, initially unveiled, has stirred debate due to its $700 tag. This figure escalates when you account for the additional costs of a $70 disc drive and a $30 stand, as they are not included with the PS5 Pro.

Due to the intense focus on the expensive nature of the PS5 Pro, discussions about its impact on PS5 games have taken a back seat. However, whether the enhanced graphics and performance justify the hefty price tag is yet to be determined. Interestingly, one game that stands out as showing noticeable improvement on the PS5 Pro over the standard PS5 is “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”, which happens to be the second-highest rated game of 2024 and an exclusive for the PS5 platform. This makes it particularly noteworthy.

On social media platform X, users – among them gaming tech specialist John Linneman – have pointed out enhancements related to the visual issues of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth”. They’ve noticed that these problems, noticeable on the standard PS5, especially when in performance mode, are no longer present with the PS5 Pro.

According to Linneman, “Wow, absolutely, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth appears significantly improved on the PlayStation 5 Pro.” He notes a striking contrast, so much so that he delayed playing it due to other commitments at its initial release. However, with the PlayStation 5 Pro, he feels it will motivate him to experience it. The image quality was previously disappointing on the regular PlayStation 5.

Man, there’s a massive improvement in Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PlayStation 5 Pro! It’s like day and night compared to the standard PS5 version. Initially, I held off playing it due to various commitments at its release, but the enhanced graphics of the Pro are compelling me to finally dive into it. The image quality on the regular PS5 was just too disappointing for me.

Most games may not require the full capabilities of the PS5 Pro or won’t be optimized enough for it, meaning they might run smoothly on both the base PS5 and the PS5 Pro. However, as we approach the end of this console generation, the most demanding games might struggle more on the standard PS5 compared to the PS5 Pro. For now, Sony may find it challenging to persuade PlayStation fans to pay $700 for a PS5 Pro, especially since the differences might not be immediately noticeable.
