One Piece: BBC Will House Over 1,000 Anime Episodes

As a longtime fan of One Piece, I can’t help but feel like I’ve struck gold with the BBC’s recent announcement! Growing up, I remember scrambling to catch each episode as they aired, and now, decades later, I find myself reliving those memories all over again. The thought of binge-watching One Piece on a platform as revered as the BBC is simply mind-blowing.

In spite of reaching its final chapter, “One Piece” is experiencing an unprecedented surge in popularity. The anime and manga continue to captivate audiences, while Netflix’s live-action adaptation has significantly boosted the Straw Hats’ fame. With Netflix preparing for a second season of their live-action series, the BBC has announced that it will bring over 1000 episodes of the show to its platforms, making it the sole destination in the UK for fans eager to enjoy the English Dub focused on Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew.

Fionna Campbell, who oversees BBC’s Youth Audiences, iPlayer, and BBC Three, expressed her excitement about the collaboration between the media network and the Grand Line. She stated, “Bringing the One Piece series to UK viewers in the upcoming months is an incredibly thrilling step! With its engaging narratives, intriguing characters, and vast global fanbase, One Piece has transformed into a cultural icon. We can’t wait to witness the enthusiastic response from fans as they immerse themselves in this massive collection of English-dubbed episodes exclusively on iPlayer.”

When Will One Piece Sail To The BBC?

Beginning September 1st, BBC will start airing the first three arcs of One Piece (East Blue, Alabasta, and Skypiea). These initial arcs encompass a total of 206 anime episodes. The remaining episodes are planned to be added to BBC iPlayer gradually throughout 2024. If you’re curious about the sagas coming to the BBC, they have conveniently compiled a list for your perusal.

o East Blue

o Alabasta

o Sky Island – Skypiea

o Water Seven

o Thriller Bark

o Summit War

o Fishman Island

o Dressrosa

o Whole Cake Island

o Land of Wano

Though the grand finale of One Piece is upon us with Monkey D. Luffy and his band of pirates, it doesn’t signal the twilight of the series just yet. Creator Eiichiro Oda has a knack for stretching out sagas, and given the unresolved storylines, we might be sailing on the Grand Line for several more years to come. When the day finally comes for this epic franchise to conclude, it will undoubtedly go down as one of the most significant moments in anime history.
