As a die-hard fan of One Piece who has grown up with Luffy and his crew for nearly two decades, I can confidently say that Eiichiro Oda’s involvement in the live-action adaptation is nothing short of exhilarating! It feels like coming home, revisiting familiar faces on the high seas while also witnessing their transformation into flesh and blood.

Eiichiro Oda has played a significant role in making Netflix’s interpretation of the Straw Hat Pirates a hit. The live-action series based on One Piece is planning its second season, exploring locations such as Drum Island, Loguetown, Little Garden, and others. For the upcoming second season, Oda will once again take up his role as Executive Producer. In a recent update, the mangaka shared insights about the ongoing work on the live-action adaptation’s return while also showcasing some fresh artwork that features the Straw Hats in a unique way. Eiichiro drew new illustrations of the live-action Straw Hat Pirates.

In a recent update, Oda once more emphasized his lovable demeanor by stating, “The live-action adaptation of One Piece is currently being filmed, with production in full swing.” The narrative will encompass Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island! It’s fascinating to ponder the potential cost. Laugh Out Loud. Despite debating over the script or cast choices, which leaves Matt the showrunner exclaiming in frustration and Netflix and Tomorrow Studios shaking their heads, we developed a strong bond during Season 1. Yet, our shared enthusiasm for this series remains unwavering!”

The Live-Action Straw Hats Get an Oda Makeover

Eiichiro Oda plays a crucial part in shaping the live-action adaptation of “One Piece,” as he has the final say on most decisions due to his role as the creator. Recently, he showcased his creative prowess by offering fresh perspectives on actors like Inaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Taz Skylar, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Mackenyu. The live-action series has officially cast Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik for Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk respectively. At the time of writing this piece, the second season of “One Piece” hasn’t been specified when it will air. Since production started over the summer, it seems unlikely that Luffy and his crew will make their return to our screens this year. Here’s hoping we catch sight of the Netflix series setting sail in 2025.
