The level of dedication and attention to detail that Eiichiro Oda and the Netflix team are pouring into this project is simply astounding.
For nearly three decades now, I’ve been an ardent follower of the captivating world of One Piece, and over this time, my familiarity with its characters has grown profoundly – from Luffy to Law, the pirate crew is vast, and that’s not even scratching the surface when it comes to the lore. As a fan, I can attest that no one delves deeper into the intricacies of this series than its creator, Eiichiro Oda.
Currently, Oda shared insights about the progress of One Piece since Netflix began filming for Season 2. Similar to Season 1, Oda remains deeply engaged in the production process, having the ultimate authority over all aspects of the series. In his latest message to fans, Oda hinted at significant changes ahead for Season 2, which he requested, causing the show’s team a bit of stress.
Speaking about the effort put into season two, Oda expressed that it comes at a cost, but he stands firm on certain aspects of the script and cast, causing frustration among Matt [Owens], Netflix, and Tomorrow Studios as they find themselves pulling their hair out in response. However, it’s important to note that Oda’s instructions are not tyrannical; rather, everyone involved in Netflix’s One Piece is meticulous about ensuring the show’s success, paying close attention to even the smallest details.
Despite our strong bond formed during season one, it’s our mutual love for this series that binds us. As before, they’re making a special effort to ensure they don’t release the new season until I am completely content with it.
It’s evident that Netflix is pouring a great deal of effort into season two of One Piece. This week alone, several new cast members for One Piece have been announced, such as Katey Sagal (Dr. Kureha) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Cobra).
