In the realm of “One Piece,” there are numerous outlaws traversing the vast oceans. Regrettably, even the World Government and the Marines have their fair share of corrupt members, making the world even more ruthless than it appears. The narrative revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a spirited pirate youth hailing from a humble village who dreams of being crowned the Pirate King. As he embarks on his voyage, he amasses new crewmates and navigates towards the Grand Line. The manga is now in its Final Saga with 110 volumes published thus far, each volume including an SBS, which stands for Shitsumon o Boshū Suru (answers to questions).
In simpler terms, One Piece’s SBS stands for “Q&A session” where creator Eiichiro Oda responds to fans’ questions within each volume of the manga. Typically, there are 3 to 6 sections of SBS per volume, with each section answering around 3 to 5 questions. The total number of questions in a single volume can range from 15 to 30, scattered throughout the book. The amount of space allocated for this section depends on how much room is left after the main chapters and additional content. In one such Q&A session, Oda shares his thoughts about the character Caesar Clown, reflecting on the villain’s unfortunate end.
Oda Reiterates in One Piece Volume 89 That Caesar Clown Is Better Off Dead
In Volume 89, a question from an SBS fan appeared on Page 28 of Chapter 890. The questioner inquired about Nami’s choice of words, like “scum” and “garbage,” towards Caesar Clown. Additionally, the fan suggested it might be more fitting if he perished. The fan further pondered if Nami was affected by Robin’s influence in this regard. However, Oda clarified, recalling events at Punk Hazard: Caesar had given children stimulants, referred to his underlings as lab rats, and spent his life developing a weapon of mass destruction.
In addition, Oda stated, “He’s a man who might find life more bearable if he were not alive. Despite Nami’s kindness towards those in distress, particularly women and children, it is clear that she holds intense disdain for Caesar.
In the captivating world of One Piece, I can’t help but express my strong disdain for Caesar. His actions are nothing short of appalling, as he has perpetrated some of the most heinous crimes imaginable in this universe. Interestingly, it’s not just anyone who takes a stand against him, but Nami – our beloved Straw Hat crew member with a tender heart for children and women.
In the chaotic landscape of Punk Hazard, when our crew was under threat, she refused to look away from the plight of innocent children. Her compassion drove her to initiate their rescue, showing us once again why we love her. Upon learning about their tragic past, she was struck with a deep sadness and fury that echoed throughout the land. Therefore, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Nami harbors a passionate hatred for Caesar, a feeling that is entirely justifiable given his atrocious actions.
Since the Straw Hat Pirates needed to keep moving on their voyage, they couldn’t provide care for the children. In such a situation, Tashigi, a Marine officer working under Vice Admiral Smoker, willingly stepped up to assist with the children’s welfare and health needs. Under normal circumstances, Nami might have turned this offer down, but her thoughts went back to her foster mother, Bell-mère, who was also a Marine Officer. Consequently, the crew embarked on their journey, feeling reassured that the kids were being well looked after.
Caesar Clown Is the Main Antagonist of the Punk Hazard Arc
As a former partner on the rogue research team MADS alongside Vegapunk, I couldn’t help but feel overshadowed by his genius reputation. It gnawed at me, fueling an inner frustration that boiled over when I discovered my unorthodox methods were causing unease. Unfortunately, those methods involved questionable ethics and dangerous experiments – some even involving inhumane treatment of subjects.
Vegapunk, ever the vigilant leader, exposed my reckless practices, leading to my dismissal from the team. In a fit of rage, I retaliated with a catastrophic act – detonating a lethal gas bomb that ravaged the island and claimed countless lives. The incident left Punk Hazard uninhabitable, but my thirst for knowledge couldn’t be quenched so easily.
In secret, I continued to conduct clandestine experiments on the devastated land, driven by the desire to prove my worth and defy Vegapunk’s judgment of me. Little did he know, my story was far from over.
He created a crucial compound, SAD, used in synthesizing artificial devil fruits. Before finalizing his own recipe, he illegally obtained Vegapunk’s research. After that, he produced the lethal substance on a large scale to profit from it by supplying it to Doflamingo. Furthermore, he covertly collaborated with Big Mom, abducting children for experiments, aiming to transform them into giants similar in strength and size.
To keep the kids obedient and stop them from escaping, Caesar administered harmful drugs that eventually proved fatal. Thankfully, his wrongdoings were exposed, leading to his defeat at the hands of Trafalgar Law and the Straw Hat Pirates. In the Whole Cake Island storyline, the Straw Hats, along with Capone Bege, rescued Caesar due to his valuable skills for a plot to assassinate Big Mom, using his heart as an incentive for compliance. However, once the assassination attempt failed, Bege gave Caesar back his heart and let him leave since he was no longer necessary to their group.
