The latest episode of “One Piece” ended on an especially suspenseful note, marking one of the most intriguing cliffhangers in the anime series so far. After a fantastic run of episodes, “One Piece: Egghead Arc Part 2” resumed from its hiatus this Spring and has been delivering one exciting episode after another. The stage is now set for further turmoil to erupt within Dr. Vegapunk’s future island laboratory, as Luffy and the gang find themselves in a fierce battle against one of the Five Elders. Despite these ongoing events, “One Piece” will momentarily deviate from the present storyline to delve into some significant historical moments instead.
After a hiatus last week that included an unpopular recap episode among fans of “One Piece”, the series has resumed with the latest events unfolding in the Egghead Arc. In episode 1129, Jewelry Bonney finds herself ensnared by St. Saturn, leaving Luffy helpless as he’s drained from overusing Gear 5. On the brink of death, Bonney starts reminiscing about Kuma’s past, marking the start of a fresh flashback arc. Unfortunately, this means we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out what happens next, leaving us hanging on this cliffhanger.
What Happens in One Piece Episode 1129?
In Episode 1129 of One Piece, it delivers on its teaser by diving deep into one of the saddest tales in the show’s chronicles. We learn that Bonney and Kuma are father and daughter, yet they were estranged due to a past event that transformed Kuma into a military weapon. Prior to this flashback sequence, Bonney finds herself in grave danger against an incredibly powerful adversary – one of the strongest enemies the Straw Hats have encountered on their voyage so far.
The scene subsequently shows Bonney appearing to accept her destiny as Marines aim their weapons at her, ensnared by Saturn’s grasp. However, for a fleeting instant, she recalls a cherished memory with her father. As the story progresses, it delves deep into Kuma’s past, offering a comprehensive exploration of his origins. This exploration is set to dominate the upcoming episodes over the next few weeks at least, before we revisit the turmoil of the Egghead Arc in present-day events.
Is This One Piece’s Worst Cliffhanger?
This particular cliffhanger in One Piece is certainly one of the more annoying ones, as it interrupts an intense scene with a flashback. However, it’s not the most frustrating in the anime’s history. That title goes to the end of Egghead Part 1 from last year. The first half of that arc ended with a teaser suggesting Luffy and his crew were trapped on the island and surrounded by Marines. But what made things worse was when the anime team announced that the series would be taking a six-month break before resuming with new episodes.
Although it’s aggravating that Bonney’s fate remains uncertain right now, at least the anime is still ongoing with fresh episodes. The previous flashback arcs in the series have been essential in enriching current events, and this trend will continue here. After the anime has filled us in on Kuma and Bonney’s past, our support for their duo may grow even stronger as the turmoil resumes in Egghead. It’s simply a question of when we’ll finally see that unfold.
