As a long-time fan of both pop culture and anime, I am beyond thrilled to witness the transformation of One Piece’s eccentric characters into live-action form. The recent behind-the-scenes sneak peek has sent waves of excitement coursing through the fandom, with the spotting of a statue featuring Monkey D. Luffy alongside David Dastmalchian’s Mr. 3.
The production for the second season of “One Piece” is ongoing, with a prominent actor from the popular live-action adaptation suggesting that the Netflix series may resume next year. Although filming appears to be nearing completion, Netflix has not yet revealed some of the major new characters – both heroes and villains – who are expected to appear in the Grand Line. In a recent making-of video, eagle-eyed viewers with an extensive knowledge of the Straw Hat Pirates have caught a sneak peek at one of the second season’s main antagonists. The character, Mr. 3, who will be portrayed by David Dastmalchian, has been spotted off-screen, hinting that he is part of the production.
If you’re not aware of David Dastmalchian’s work, he’s an actor who adores pop culture. He has a long-standing affection for anime and has appeared in productions such as The Dark Knight, The Suicide Squad, The Last Voyage of The Demeter, and the latest Dune movies. One of his most notable roles was starring in Late Night With The Devil, a critically acclaimed horror film from last year where he played a late-night TV host grappling with a genuine supernatural menace. In the upcoming second season of One Piece, Dastmalchian will take on the challenging task of bringing the character Mr. 3 to life.

A First Look At Mr. 3
In a recent backstage video of One Piece’s second season, viewers noticed a statue featuring Monkey D. Luffy alongside David Dastmalchain’s character Mr. 3. Although it isn’t David himself in the role, this statue provides us with an image of how Baroqueworks member Mr. 3 might appear when he officially arrives on the live-action Grand Line. Fans will observe that the statue accurately represents Mr. 3’s hairstyle, demonstrating the creators’ commitment to adhering closely to the source material.

Mr. 3’s Role in Season 2
Fans of “One Piece” have been eager to see how Alabasta appears in live-action, but the Straw Hats still need to visit several key locations before they reach the desert island. The island called Little Garden is where Luffy and his team encounter giants Dorry and Brogy, as well as different members of Baroqueworks. Among them is Mr. 3, a formidable leader of Crocodile’s gang who possesses Devil Fruit abilities that are unlike any the Straw Hat Pirates have faced during their journey thus far.
Instead of possessing the ability to elongate his body or skillfully handling swords, Mr. 3’s unique talent lies in crafting and shaping candle wax. At first glance, this power may not appear threatening, but the way Baroqueworks’ leader employs this “talent” poses a significant threat to the anime heroes. Even the giants struggle when confronting these smaller antagonists on Little Garden.
In the first season of One Piece, viewers have been eagerly anticipating the appearance of several characters in live action. Among them are Crocodile, Nico Robin, Tony Tony Chopper, Smoker, and Dr. Kureha who are all set to debut in the second season. Stay tuned with us at egmr.ru as we’ll provide updates on when these new additions to the Grand Line will make their first appearance.
