One Piece: Gunko’s Hidden Fear of Nika Unveiled in Shocking Chapter 1142

In my excitement as a One Piece fan, let me share that the Elbaf Arc unveiled the enigmatic Holy Knights for the very first time! Although they’d been mentioned earlier, it was only now that we got to see their faces, names, and abilities. These guys are rumored to be one of the most formidable antagonistic forces in the story, striking fear into anyone who knows about them. While many believe most, if not all, of these knights are Celestial Dragons, their Commander holds the unique power to execute any World Noble based on their actions. The Figarlands lead this group, each member possessing diverse powers linked often to devil fruits. Among all the Holy Knights, Gunko was the first to demonstrate her formidable abilities!

Despite ongoing speculation about her lineage, there’s no denying her powers. The Arrow-Arrow Fruit grants her the unique ability to craft and control arrows that can alter their flight paths and characteristics. Gunko utilizes the bandages wrapped around her body to fabricate these arrows, dealing heavy damage to her adversaries. Moreover, she’s among the few who can employ the Summoning Circle, famously known as the “Abyss.” This is the only known ability within the One Piece universe that enables instantaneous teleportation, even from great distances. Yet, despite her immense power, she too harbors fear, and this fear proves to be quite surprising.

One Piece’s Gunko Reveals Her Biggest Fear in Chapter 1142

The assault against Elbaf has commenced, and at this point, the Holy Knights seem to hold the upper hand. One of their knights, Rimoshifu Killingham, possesses an unusual ability and seems to be in his activated Zoan-type devil fruit state. He can make people fall asleep from afar and manipulate them. In Chapter 1142, a cluster of Giant kids fell unconscious near a crow and began sleepwalking towards a specific destination.

Beyond just this, Killingham has the ability to conjure figures derived from people’s nightmares. In the storyline, Elbaf was teeming with bizarre, colossal monsters. Whether these creatures are mere illusions or have the capacity to physically harm someone remains uncertain. Each of these frightening beings is something that scares children the most. As Shamrock put it, his initial plan was to target the children, and Killingham appears to be following the wisest strategy in this scenario.

In the group of monsters, there’s one that seems out of place because it resembles Nika, complete with the same sword, shield, and appearance. However, this one is more intimidating, as its shield sports a spike instead of the usual circular design associated with Nika. Given that some interpretations depict Nika as the “God of Destruction,” it’s plausible that some people are afraid of him. Interestingly, even Gunko, who is a Holy Knight, admits to fearing the Sun God. Since her role as a Holy Knight is about granting freedom, she stands in stark contrast to Nika’s destructive nature. If she follows ancient mythology, she likely anticipates Nika’s arrival and lives in apprehension of that day.

Furthermore, as suggested by @writingpanini on X, Nika’s name translates to “War Drum,” symbolizing her Drums of Liberation. The majority of Celestial Dragons remain unaware of the Void Century, evident in their response to Vegapunk’s communication. This lack of knowledge about the Void Century could indicate that Gunko might not be a World Noble but was admitted into the Holy Knights due to her skills. It is plausible, though speculative, that she hails from a people who revere the Sun God and named Gunko in honor of their deity.
