In the grand expanse of One Piece‘s world, I find myself immersed in the intriguing Elbaf Arc where layer upon layer of mysteries unfold as our crew embarks on a fresh voyage within this legendary land. Despite their recent harrowing encounter with Gorosei, trouble seems to dog them even in Elbaf. In Chapter 1130, I witnessed Luffy meeting none other than the Cursed Prince of Elbaf – Loki, who is currently serving time for slaying King Harald. Yet, after striking a deal, Shamrock Figarland and Gunko unexpectedly show up in Elbaf, aiming to enlist Loki as one of their Holy Knights. However, despite the tantalizing promise of freedom, Loki steadfastly declines the offer.
As per the Giants’ account, Loki, having slain his father, escaped the kingdom six years ago and was later apprehended by Shanks. King Harald of Elbaf was deeply revered, and the Giants harbor intense animosity towards Loki for his heinous act. Yet, since his youth, Loki has been a source of trouble. However, the manga subtly suggests that Loki might not be as malevolent as they believe. If this is true, then one must wonder who could have been behind King Harald’s demise.
The Summoning Circle May Be the Key to Solving the Mystery of Harald’s Death
In chapter 1139 of “One Piece”, Luffy and the group find themselves in the throne room, where they discover a summoning circle previously used by Shamrock and Gunko. The mystery lies in how they managed to arrive specifically there. Although the workings of this summoning are unclear, it’s possible that it’s related to a Devil Fruit ability. So far, only members from Mary Geoise have been seen using it, suggesting that the person with this power is likely a resident. This ability instantaneously transports its users to their chosen destination. In chapter 1094, we saw Saturn appear exactly where Luffy and Kizaru were fighting, and Sanji and the others were also present, trying to flee. This suggests that the teleportation isn’t random but rather directed towards specific locations.
Because Vegapunk previously served the World Government, they likely have knowledge about Egghead’s structure. It might seem like a mere coincidence, but when Gorosei appeared at the same location as Saturn in Chapter 1109 to aid him, it raises suspicions. Perhaps the location was already marked as a potential emergency site. In such a scenario, Shamrock and Gunko appearing in the Throne Room instead of directly confronting Loki becomes more plausible.
Without prior visits, it’s unlikely for strangers to be acquainted with the secluded nation’s Throne Room. The state of disarray in this room suggests a past conflict, possibly years ago. There’s a large, mysterious scratch on one wall, likely from some powerful creature, and various parts are shattered or damaged.
A Bigger Conspiracy Is Likely in Play Surrounding the Giants
In contrast to its portrayal, Loki doesn’t seem like a mindless killer. While he possesses the power of a devil fruit, there are inconsistencies that don’t quite fit. The most significant hint comes from One Piece Chapter 1137 where Jarul appeared to be lying about being struck by Loki, much like Luffy and other characters do when they’re not telling the truth. Moreover, Loki enjoys the loyalty and trust of the creatures of the underworld, similar to Luffy. Animals tend to be attracted towards compassionate individuals.
When the Holy Knights arrived, one wolf sacrificed itself to shield Loki. It’s no wonder that Loki felt both enraged and sorrowful upon losing his companion. King Harald was admired by his subjects and sought to broaden trade beyond Elbaf. Yet, the cause of his demise could stem from one of two possibilities: either the World Government orchestrated this move to seize control over Elbaf, or it might be that Loki uncovered Harald’s intentions for a plot against Elbaf – a notion that seems improbable.
Shamrock came to Elbaf with the intention of seizing control, and he aimed to enlist Loki, who was eager for independence. However, Loki’s rejection and open contempt were not something Shamrock anticipated. Regardless, his strategy remains unaltered, despite a small hiccup. Internally, Elbaf is in disarray, making it an opportune moment for adversaries to strike. Currently, the kingdom lacks a monarch. Loki, the second prince, faces crucifixion, while Hajruddin, Loki’s elder stepbrother, is barred from holding the title of prince because his mother was not indigenous to Elbaf.
