As a seasoned gamer and long-time One Piece enthusiast, I must say that the recent turn of events has left me both intrigued and slightly perturbed. The allure of free, unlimited access to such a captivating series as One Piece was reminiscent of chasing after the legendary treasure itself – a journey filled with camaraderie, adventure, and the tantalizing promise of untold riches.
Enjoying “One Piece” without charge has become reminiscent of Luffy’s quest for the legendary treasure, a goal that might be more myth than reality (perhaps it’s the camaraderie we gather along the way). Crunchyroll has chosen to enclose this iconic anime within a subscription barrier. For “One Piece” enthusiasts, this means upgrading to the streamer’s Premium tier ($7.99 per month). However, there’s another path to watch (nearly) all of “One Piece” without charge.
For UK viewers, good news! “One Piece” has been added to BBC iPlayer and you can now stream both subbed and dubbed versions. Currently, 746 episodes are accessible, with streaming ending at the Dressrosa Arc. However, by the end of December, BBC iPlayer aims to have all over 1000 episodes available on their platform. The remaining episodes will be added on December 22. Keep in mind that accessing BBC iPlayer is free for UK residents who pay their annual TV license fee. A list of currently available arcs can be found below:
- East Blue (1-61)
- Alabasta (62-135)
- Sky Island (136-206)
- Water Seven (207-325)
- Thriller Bark (326-384)
- Summit War (385-516)
- Fish-man Island (517-574)
- Dressrosa (575-746)
You won’t find the assortment of “One Piece” movies, including the latest “Fan Letter,” or “One Piece Red” on iPlayer for streaming. While “One Piece Red” has been added to Netflix, it requires a paid subscription, just like Crunchyroll premium. As of now, there’s no word about any of the fifteen “One Piece” films becoming available on BBC iPlayer.
Crunchyroll Users Still Have Time
For newcomers of “One Piece”, there’s some good news amidst the bad. Although most of the over 1000 episodes will be hidden behind a subscription service, Crunchyroll is making sure the initial portions are accessible to all for free. Specifically, the first 206 episodes, complete with advertisements, will continue to be available on their free tier. However, once you’ve likely watched them all within a week, that’s when the challenge of finding more content begins.
As a passionate gamer and an avid anime fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled about the latest turn of events! BBC iPlayer snagging the fresh episodes of One Piece couldn’t have come at a better time for us Straw Hat Crew enthusiasts. If you’ve been itching to embark on Luffy’s grand adventure across the Grand Line, now is your chance!
