In the current storyline of “One Piece,” known as the Elbaf Arc, Luffy and his crew embark on a fresh journey in the legendary land of Giants. Elbaf is an autonomous island with immense power, recognized as the most powerful nation globally. It’s inhabited by valiant and formidable warriors who take great pride in their abilities. Given their extended lifespan compared to humans, they primarily dedicate their lives to refining their skills. Despite their impressive strength, they generally favor a tranquil existence. Their anger was ignited when Eustass Kidd attempted to assault Elbaf and disrupt its peaceful state.
Due to its seclusion from other nations, the country hasn’t progressed significantly. Yet, change is evident as the Giants are prioritizing education for future generations. Jaguar D. Saul plays a significant part in this transformation, with King Harald also contributing to development. This only increases the people’s admiration for their monarch. Unfortunately, fourteen years ago, the kingdom suffered an unexplained tragedy – Harald’s demise. Worse still, Harald’s son, Prince Loki, was the murderer. He survived by drifting at sea for eight years until Shanks found him and delivered him to the Giants. It has been six years since then, and Loki has been serving his sentence in the underworld. However, the story takes a surprising turn in One Piece Chapter 1140.
Luffy and Zoro Free Loki in One Piece Chapter 1140
In the series “One Piece,” Loki strikes a bargain with Luffy, assuring him that he’ll reveal any secrets he has about Shanks in return for his freedom. Despite Loki’s intimidating appearance, Luffy manages to get along quite well with him. Luffy is determined to uphold his end of the deal because he eagerly wants to encounter Shanks. Even the Giants speaking ill of Loki doesn’t sway Luffy from his decision.
As per the Giants’ account, Loki has consistently been a thorn in their side, often referred to as the “Accursed Prince.” Since his youth, he has been playing perilous tricks on them. However, crossing the line by slaying their cherished King Harald was unacceptable. The Giants assert that Loki killed Harald in order to seize the enigmatic devil fruit, a powerful artifact that has been preserved within Elbaf’s royal lineage for generations. With his existing prowess as the kingdom’s strongest warrior, obtaining the power of the devil fruit made him virtually invincible.
In Chapter 1139, Scopper Gaban discloses an intriguing fact: prior to Shanks, no one was successful in defeating Loki. Given that even a solitary Giant was hard to subdue when the warriors of Elbaf united their powers, this claim is quite impressive. Luffy is certain that even if Loki creates mischief, he will be able to handle the towering Giant Prince with ease. As Chapter 1140 concludes, Loki towers ominously before Luffy. His imposing height above ordinary Giants adds to his already intimidating presence.
One Piece May Include a Brief Fight Between Luffy and Loki
For six years, Loki endured crucifixion and more recently suffered at the hands of Gunko. One would think such ordeals would leave Loki incapacitated, but surprisingly, that’s not the case. To make matters worse, Zoro’s kick on his wound only served to aggravate him further. Furthermore, if the tales about Loki are indeed accurate, he might not be intending to honor their agreement. It wouldn’t be out of character for him to launch another destructive rampage, as he did 14 years prior.
It’s uncertain if Loki had an encounter with Shanks recently when the pirate was in Elbaf and clashed with Kidd afterwards. However, it is known that their relationship isn’t positive due to Shanks having imprisoned Loki for six years. Loki might not be as well-informed about Shanks as he seems. His intentions so far are unclear, but a sudden conflict between him and Luffy wouldn’t be unexpected, given the last scene in Chapter 1140 doesn’t appear friendly at all.
Despite potential conflicts, Elbaf’s ongoing strife won’t persist due to more pressing concerns, such as the Holy Knights’ impending attack on their kingdom, transforming it into a battleground. Given Loki’s animosity towards the Celestial Dragons and his personal grudge against Gunko and Shamrock, he might be ready to engage in combat with those villains.
