In the Elbaf Arc of “One Piece,” Luffy and his companions are now en route to the Sun World, where a significant battle is about to unfold. The Holy Knights’ surprise attack on the Giants left them defenseless, as they were primarily targeting the children. Worse still, the Holy Knights share regenerative abilities similar to the Five Elders, making them formidable adversaries. Gaban was the only one capable of standing against them, but he was sidelined due to Gunko’s clever strategy. After easily disposing of Sommers, Gaban aimed his attack at Gunko, only to see his son’s death foretold through Future Sight. This tragic vision forced him to yield the fight.
She lands a few decisive strikes on the man, and Gaban receives medical attention swiftly afterward. Chopper transports him to the Underworld, where Luffy and their companions are located, making it convenient for him to tend to the retired pirate and inform the Captain about the ongoing situation. The Holy Knights hadn’t foreseen a Yonko wanting to intervene in this dispute, but Luffy couldn’t stand idly by while injustice occurred – especially since the Giants are allies of the Straw Hat Pirates. However, prior to engaging in battle against the Holy Knights, Luffy attempts to enlist Loki’s aid, but is immediately turned down.
Luffy Already Trusts Loki Enough to Offer a Place in His Crew
Since discovering that the Holy Knights are assaulting the Sun World, Loki has been intensely eager to escape his restraints and aid his kin. Unfortunately, Hajrudin harbors deep-rooted prejudice and refuses to heed anything Loki says. On the contrary, Luffy and Loki find an immediate connection due to their similar natures. Luffy intuits that Loki is not the villain the Giants portray him as; otherwise, he wouldn’t extend a crew membership invitation to the Cursed Prince.
In the recently unfolded Chapter 152, I noticed that Hajrudin was reluctant to let Loki engage in a battle for Elbaf. To address this, Luffy proposed an invitation for Loki to become part of his crew, eliminating any potential complaints from Hajrudin. Recognizing Elbaf’s rejection of Loki, it seemed sensible for the Prince to find another opportunity. Furthermore, Luffy, being drawn to powerful individuals, sensed Loki’s formidable strength. Given these circumstances, it would have been unusual if Luffy hadn’t extended such an offer to Loki to join his crew.
The response was predictable, as neither Loki nor Luffy’s wings showed any inclination towards accepting him. Loki dislikes submitting to authority, and it’s evident that the Giant can’t fit on the Thousand Sunny. Furthermore, Loki has a significant appetite, making it challenging for Sanji to keep up with cooking for him daily. To add to this, Loki is the Prince of Elbaf, a nation without a successor 14 years after the King’s death. Given these factors, it seems that integrating Loki into the crew might not be feasible.

It May Be Too Late to Get Another Straw Hat Member
I’m witnessing a captivating tale unfold, nestled within its grand Final Saga’s second act. Time ticks away swiftly as Luffy prepares for his voyage towards Laughtale. Along his path, he’s encountered an array of extraordinary individuals whom he felt compelled to invite along on this adventure. Yet, amidst the longing for excitement, not every soul is unshackled enough to forsake their duties and traverse the vast globe.
So far, Gaimon, Vivi, Ace, Kin’emon, Yamato, and others have been part of the team. Although Loki as a character is fascinating and powerful, it seems unlikely that he would join the group. In fact, Luffy’s crew is intended to be compact yet skilled, aiming to assist him in his quest for the Pirate King title. During the East Blue Saga, Luffy made it clear that his team should ideally consist of approximately ten members.
In the final stages of the tale, adding another crew member might appear somewhat unexpected or out of place, as they would be joining the group quite late in their voyage. Each member of the crew plays a crucial role, thus the team is essentially fully formed. The narrative needs to concentrate more on the enigmas and the World Government rather than introducing another significant character to Luffy’s journey at this point, given that there’s little time left to adequately develop a new Straw Hat character with the depth typically provided by Oda.
