One of the most acclaimed anime series of Winter 2025, titled “Sakamoto Days,” is based on Yuto Suzuki’s successful Weekly Shonen Jump manga. The narrative revolves around Taro Sakamoto, a once formidable assassin who retired from his perilous profession after getting married. Five years have passed, and Taro now enjoys a tranquil life with his wife and daughter. However, trouble comes calling when a billion-yen bounty is placed on his head, attracting numerous hitmen intent on taking him down. Despite his ability to fend off these adversaries, the safety of his family remains at risk.
As I delve deeper into this intriguing plot, it’s crucial that I uncover the culprit who’s been dragging me back to the Underworld. While the anime is still in its infancy, the manga has already reached its ninth story arc. We’ve been introduced to a host of characters so far, and one of them, despite enjoying a broad fanbase, is frequently maligned within the X community. Yet, much of this criticism is playful banter and creative fans are drawing inspiration from the spirited One Piece community. Both communities boast a substantial number of members, and they’re known for their humorous memes featuring various characters.

Sakamoto Days Fans Slander Gaku With One Piece Akainu Memes
The meme originates from a well-known panel featuring Akainu in One Piece Chapter 1054. In the original scene, Akainu expressed his concerns about the world’s condition and vowed to become a Fleet Admiral, pledging to vanquish every sea-roaming menace. As he gazes out of his office window, One Piece enthusiasts reinterpret this moment, altering the dialogue to reflect their personal theories or interpretations. A popular meme portrays Akainu as saying that Zoro can cut through magma, implying that if Akainu steps down, Zoro might cut him (Akainu) with his sword due to the heat of the magma.
On the very same post, a fan employs another rendition of the “Lend me some Haki Oden” joke. This meme is frequently used to jest about Zoro’s supposed borrowing of Oden’s Haki from Enma. However, it should be noted that this claim lacks confirmation and is often made humorously. Conversely, in the series “Sakamoto Days,” the character Gaku is routinely criticized for having lost to both Takamura and Nagumo, who are part of the Order, the most powerful assassin team. It’s anticipated that Gaku will make his debut in the second season of the anime.
In the storyline, a character named Gaku is an assassin employed by Slur as part of their scheme to dethrone JAA. During the grand Assassin Exhibition event, Gaku lost against Nagumo. Later, he teamed up with Nagumo, Taro, Uzuki, and Haruma for a direct assault on Takamura. After suffering severe injuries in this battle, Gaku’s current condition is uncertain. As the manga has not definitively stated his death, some fans speculate that he might be recovering from his wounds. The future of his role within the storyline remains undetermined since Sakamoto Days Chapter 167, published in May 2024.
