One Piece Reveals Its Most Important Element (And It’s Not the Final Treasure)

Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of following Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece, “One Piece.” Its intricate narrative has given rise to elements that hold significant weight. Among these, it’s evident that the One Piece itself is the most pivotal. This legendary treasure is believed to contain all the answers, riches, and power, making it difficult for anything else to outshine it. However, the Egghead arc has been particularly enlightening, brimming with unexpected twists. A remarkable character was introduced during this time – the brilliant Dr. Vegapunk, whose revelations, as expected from the world’s foremost scientist, have been groundbreaking.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for One Piece’s Elbaf Arc!

During the climax of the Egghead storyline, Dr. Vegapunk’s revelations were broadcast live, providing a vivid understanding of the World Government’s intention to purify the world through the deployment of an Ancient Weapon, as demonstrated by Imu’s recent application of this enigmatic weapon to destroy Lulusia Kingdom. This action caused a rise in sea levels, which Vegapunk uses as an illustration to suggest that the World Government has employed similar tactics in the past, shaping the current world of One Piece, characterized by its warped islands and expansive oceans. Given that the World Government seems determined to repeat this catastrophe, Vegapunk’s invention could be instrumental in preserving civilization, making it more crucial than even the fabled One Piece itself.

Dr. Vegapunk’s Invention Holds the Key to Saving Civilization in One Piece

Chapter 1123 of One Piece, titled “The Void Fortnight,” delves into a flashback revealing how Vegapunk masterfully orchestrated the conclusion of the Egghead arc. A minor scene in this chapter highlights his discussion about a device called the “Cloud Plant,” a technology capable of creating cloud islands people can walk on. This innovation was briefly shown during the Egghead arc and appears to be similar to other floating islands seen in the series, such as Skypiea and Weatheria. These two islands demonstrate that life can thrive even when land is completely underwater. If the World Government’s dark plan of genocide continues, the Cloud Plant could prove to be the most significant invention yet, potentially surpassing even the enigma surrounding the treasure known as One Piece.

In the wake of Egghead Island being wiped out or under World Government jurisdiction, recovering this particular invention proves challenging. Yet, Vegapunk Lilith is setting up a new base on Elbaf, which could potentially lead to the resurrection of Cloud Plant technology along with the true Dr. Vegapunk’s return. However, if Cloud Plant fails to materialize, another option for human survival alongside the Fishmen underwater exists, though it requires advanced technology that might take years to perfect. Consequently, Cloud Plant remains the crucial component in the world of One Piece, an invention that could aid humanity in rebuilding should the World Government proceed with its destructive agenda.
