In the later stages of the storyline for “One Piece,” a heated discussion among fans has arisen as to who will ultimately be the final villain. While several strong candidates have emerged, the most likely contenders appear to be Imu and Blackbeard. Although Blackbeard was initially introduced and positioned as Luffy’s opposite, Imu, although more recently introduced, is becoming increasingly significant, particularly as readers learn more about the Void Century. However, the latest chapter of “One Piece” might have resolved this debate with the disclosure of Imu’s formidable powers.
In the thrilling Chapter 1150 of “One Piece,” with Gaban out of play, it’s Imu who takes center stage, focusing their attention on the Giants. With a wave of formidable Conqueror’s Haki, they bring down numerous Giants and children in their path. Impressively, Imu demonstrates the power to summon weapons from a grimoire, much like the abyss pentagrams wielded by the Five Elders and Holy Knights for teleportation.
However, what truly sends shivers down my spine is Imu’s display of “Domi Reversi,” a chilling ability that transforms Dorry and Brogy into demons under their control. These astonishing feats only serve to solidify the notion that Imu is indeed the ultimate antagonist in this series, surpassing even Blackbeard in power and menace.
Imu Will Be One Piece’s Final Villain, Not Blackbeard
Despite witnessing Kaido’s immense strength, Blackbeard remained a distinct danger due to his unique ability to consume two Devil Fruits. The mystery surrounding how he obtained this power and his ultimate intentions make him an intriguing and formidable potential final adversary for Luffy in the series. Additionally, the Egghead Arc unveiled that Blackbeard’s ambition is to conquer the world itself, which shares similarities with Rocks D. Xebec and intensifies his rivalry with Luffy, who follows in the footsteps of Gol D. Roger, Rocks’ long-time adversary.
Although Imu remains as puzzling as ever, he appears to be less menacing – up until now. It’s possible that the abilities of Imu are far greater than what we’ve seen so far, considering the restrictions that may come from inhabiting Gunko’s body. These constraints, whatever they might be, could give Luffy an advantage when they finally confront each other on Elbaf. The main battle between them seems to be postponed for a later time, much like how Luffy initially encountered Kaido at Kura before their climactic fight at Onigashima.
Given Imu’s power over people, it appears the upcoming confrontation between Luffy and Imu will not only be a physical battle but also a conflict of beliefs. With Luffy embodying the spirit of liberation reborn, he is ideally positioned to free those under Imu’s grasp. However, defeating Imu, or rather Gunko, won’t be easy, and we can expect numerous challenges ahead. So, it will be fascinating to see how the Elbaf Arc unfolds next in One Piece.
