One Piece Reveals the Original Plan for Buggy’s Cross Guild

One Piece Reveals the Original Plan for Buggy's Cross Guild

As a seasoned One Piece enthusiast who has been sailing these seas since its debut, I must say that the revelation of Buggy the Clown’s Cross Guild could have had a completely different crew is quite intriguing! The current lineup, with Crocodile and Hawkeye Mihawk on board, already stirs up enough chaos. But the thought of Perona or other unseen characters joining forces with Buggy adds an extra layer of excitement to this already action-packed series.

Right now, “One Piece” is progressing through Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series’ Final Saga, and it has been revealed that Buggy the Clown’s Cross Guild might have had an entirely different appearance. The announcement that “One Piece” would commence its Final Saga surprised fans worldwide. Although the series is yet to reach its concluding point, it’s evident that the storyline is moving closer to its final destination as the new Four Sea Emperors are now heading towards the ultimate One Piece treasure.

One of the more hilarious and biggest surprises heading into One Piece‘s Final Saga, also, was the reveal that Buggy the Clown was named a new Emperor of the Sea alongside Monkey D. Luffy after the events of the Wano Country arc. It was then revealed that Buggy was apparently leading a dangerous and powerful pirate group that was putting bounties out on members of the Marines, the Cross Guild, and it turns out that the look and members in this group could have been much different than the final group.

Vivre Cards depict an aged drawing of Oda that hints at additional characters initially intended for the Cross Guild. While it’s somewhat unclear, one character appears to resemble Perona from One Piece.

One Piece: A New Cross Guild?

A post by @newworldartur on X uncovered an older drawing by Eiichiro Oda indicating that additional or alternate members were initially intended for the Cross Guild. The present roster of the Cross Guild encompasses Crocodile and Hawkeye Mihawk, who were on the run from the Marines post-Seven Warlords of the Sea upheaval during the Reverie. They employ Buggy as a key target for protection, but ironically, he’s gained even more recognition among the Marines and the wider seas due to this association.

Over time, the Cross Guild has grown into a formidable force far greater than Buggy initially anticipated, largely due to his sway and his crew’s unwavering devotion to him. This organization has attracted the attention of the Marines as a significant threat. However, examining this sketch of the group suggests that it might have had a very different roster of key pirates serving under Buggy. It’s challenging to identify who these characters could have been before Oda finalized the current composition of the crew.

What’s Next for the Cross Guild?

Although the Cross Guild initially may have taken a different path, there’s no denying that it could expand in the future. Currently, Buggy and his crew are moving towards the One Piece, implying they will assume more significance as the series progresses towards its grand climax. Luffy and Buggy, being two Sea Emperors, are destined for a final showdown. Given Buggy’s crew’s distinct members, the Straw Hats might find themselves dealing with them in the upcoming events.

In the upcoming chapters of “One Piece,” there are numerous unaligned characters wandering the seas. These characters have the potential to join this group at a later point in time. Characters such as Perona, who appears to be depicted in a sketch, could be a suitable fit for the Cross Guild. Similarly, characters like Crocodile and Mihawk might use Buggy solely to advance their individual plans and aspirations for the future.
