In October 2024, the anime adaptation of One Piece took an unanticipated break, coinciding with its 25th anniversary. The manga and anime have been released concurrently since the manga started serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump two years prior. Typically, each episode encompasses two or more chapters, lasting around twenty minutes. However, the anime had to skip adapting entire chapters per episode as it neared catching up with the original storyline. Toei Animation compensated for this by introducing filler episodes, extending the narrative slightly but causing it to become somewhat drawn-out.
In certain instances, the sequences can stretch longer than ideal and slow down the tempo. Nevertheless, the overall enjoyment derived from watching this anime remains remarkable, as evidenced by the fact that One Piece is among the most acclaimed anime series ever produced. The series has been particularly enjoyable since the Wano Country Saga, boasting exceptional animation that was further refined during the Egghead Incident Arc. Upon its comeback, fans had anticipated significant changes, especially in terms of pacing. However, it appears that these expectations may not be met.
One Piece’s Anime Will Stick With the Usual Pacing
The sneak peek for Episode 1123 reveals it will be titled “The World Quakes! The Straw Hats’ Hostage Dilemma.” Following Episode 1122, which was based on Chapter 1088 of the manga, the next episode will tackle Chapter 1089. Meanwhile, the tentative title for Episode 1124 is “Total Siege! The Great Escape of Egghead!” However, as the title is unofficially translated, some adjustments may be made when the official preview comes out. Regardless, the studio will keep delivering top-notch animation without altering the story’s pace. Despite the additional content, fans can still look forward to an exciting time with Egghead episodes!
In the previous installment, we witness an incredible battle between Blackbeard Pirates and Marines, with Garp and Koby taking center stage. Despite his valiant effort, Garp is overpowered by the pirates, giving SWORD members a chance to flee from Hachinosu. Though his fate remains undisclosed in the anime, the manga provides insights into what transpired afterwards. The narrative will then shift its focus towards the Straw Hat Pirates, who are currently with Dr. Vegapunk on Egghead. In One Piece Episode 1123, an unforeseen occurrence is set to leave everyone astounded worldwide. This event stems from the demise of Lulusia Kingdom, orchestrated by the enigmatic ruler of the world, Imu. The upcoming episode will showcase the responses of characters hailing from all corners of the globe.
In the meantime, the turmoil on Egghead escalates. The island is under attack, with Admiral Kizaru commanding the Marine forces. As we saw in the preview, the powerful individual who dealt a humiliating blow to the Straw Hat Pirates two years ago at Sabaody is back for another confrontation. Yet, things have changed as the crew has grown significantly stronger since then. Moreover, Luffy and his companions hold an advantage due to their captive, which they can use as leverage against the World Government.
