In the continuation of the Elbaf Arc within the captivating world of One Piece, I find myself observing the Straw Hat Pirates embark on a fresh voyage post the tumultuous skirmish at Egghead. Elbaf, an enigmatic land nestled in the farthest reaches of the New World, stands secluded from the rest of civilization and is the domain of the colossal Giants. Assisted by the Giant Warrior Pirates, reaching this kingdom seemed straightforward; yet, as others traversed the Sleeping Mists, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Chopper, and Usopp found themselves slumbering within the Thousand Sunny. Road’s pet, Muginn, took advantage of their sleepy state and ensnared them within the Land of the Giants, leaving them to continue their journey in dreamland.
After a brief confusion, they soon figure out that Road is the perpetrator and easily defeat him. The rest of the crew soon enter the island and reunite with the others. Since Elbaf isn’t bound by the laws set by the World Government, they are not afraid to welcome pirates in their home with open arms. Since the crew members are already familiar with some of the Giants, everyone holds a major banquet to celebrate their arrival. However, while the arc in itself is impressive, there were a couple of mistakes in the serialized version. Since One Piece released the Japanese version of Volume 111 on March 4th, it also fixed the issues in the previous version.
One Piece Creator Fixes Recent Mistakes in Volume 111
In Chapter 1127, the iconic moment reminiscent of the Monster Trio from long ago unfolds. Characters Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji engage Iscat in an epic battle, synchronizing their attacks across a double-page spread, much like Chapter 162 from the Alabasta Saga, which was published approximately 24 years prior. This nostalgic scene certainly delivered excitement. However, Luffy’s use of Gear 4 created some confusion. His Gear 4 is a formidable ability he reserves for worthy adversaries.
Instead of Iscat, the move is too weak for him to employ its form. Additionally, Luffy opted against his typical muscular metamorphosis. Since awakening his devil fruit, Luffy rarely uses Gear 4 nowadays. Consequently, some spectators thought his transformation had evolved, while others considered it a minor oversight. However, the attack’s label was Gear 4; yet, it seems more likely to be Gear 3 based on all evidence.
The latest volume confirmed it was indeed Gear 3, and the previous dialogue was just a mistake. Additionally, Luffy was seen carrying a sword initially but later switched it to an axe. Luffy doesn’t use any weapons for fighting, so the axe is simply an accessory for him to complete his Viking look. Luffy carrying a sword was initially a mistake, as Oda always intended to have him wield an axe in the entirety of this arc. These details were caught and posted on X by a popular One Piece theorist, @newworldartur.
Volume 111 of “One Piece” is currently available exclusively in Japan; a global release date has not been announced as of now. Typically, it takes several months for translated versions to become accessible worldwide. In the interim, fans can catch up on the latest chapters using the official Manga Plus app.
