One Piece’s Law Is Set to Get an Exciting Spinoff in the Fall

One of the most beloved characters from the manga “One Piece”, Trafalgar Law, has been absent for nearly two years, yet his fanbase remains undiminished. On January 24th, Viz Media’s official account on X announced that a new light novel titled “One Piece: Law’s Story” will be released in Fall 2025. This novel, penned by Eiichiro Oda and Shusei Sakagami, takes readers on Law’s journey from his youth to the Heart Pirates’ high-seas adventures. The story was first published in Japan in April 2020 as part of the fourth through seventh volumes of the “One Piece Magazine”, later compiled into a standalone book.

Immediately following Corazon’s heart-wrenching demise, I find myself tracing the path of Trafalgar Law – a lone traveler who would eventually assemble the Heart Pirates. At just 13 years old when Corazon passed, Law gradually mastered curing his lead poisoning with the Ope Ope no Mi. The narrative unfolds across four chapters and an epilogue, crafted by Shusei Sakagami but under Eiichiro Oda’s watchful eye. This fall, readers will finally get their hands on its official English translation, with Viz Media revealing the specific release date at a later time. In December 2024, Sakagami released a sequel titled “One Piece Novel Law: The Hour of Kikoku,” but an English edition remains unannounced as of now.

Get ready to embark on a fresh journey with Trafalgar Law as he navigates his past and the thrilling escapades of the Heart Pirates across the vast oceans! The new light novel titled “One Piece: Law’s Story,” co-created by Eiichiro Oda and written by Shusei Sakagami, will be available Fall 2025.

What Happened to Law in the One Piece Manga?

Following his alliance with Luffy during the Punk Hazard Arc, he played a significant role in the narrative until the Wano Saga. The Straw Hat and Heart Pirates subsequently went their separate ways after defeating Kaido and Wano. As the Final Saga unfolds, Luffy sets off for Egghead while Law navigates towards Winner Island. At this point, there’s not much information available about the island, but unfortunately for him, he crossed paths with the Blackbeard Pirates.

In the storyline, the Yonko were on standby, anticipating the arrival of either Luffy, Law, or Kidd, as they planned to engage them over the poneglyph replicas. Law had a valiant battle against Blackbeard, but it wasn’t long before he was overpowered. Bepo, using the rumble ball given by Chopper, made an escape with the injured Law in tow. The fate of the Heart Pirates remains unclear as they went down with their ship, Polar Tang, into the depths of the ocean. Last seen in Chapter 1081, which was published in April 2023, neither Bepo nor Law’s whereabouts have been confirmed in subsequent manga releases.
